hi guys,
having troubles with the falco again. this time the brake lights are constantly on.

using the manual, i have tried to determine if/where the brake light relay is situated, but havent been able to find anything. closest thing i can find is a "diode module" - but i cant find much info as to what this unit actually is.

when the front brake is applied, the lights flicker once, but when the rear is pressed nothing happens.

faulty rear switch or is there a relay somewhere?

oh and i ahve checked the obvious like fuses and earths etc.

and i would guess the rear is the most likely

I would start by whipping it off and seeing if that is the culprit - and while off give it a good going over with wd40 and then try moving it

I have had one fail in a similar way in the past - exact same symptoms

Yes i agree - this is the second one to go now. However last time it failed, it was off, not on!

i wouldnt mind too much, but they are 20 quid a pop!

ok, defined the issue as the front brake switch actually!

new one will be here wednesday :)

glad you found the culprit

why assume everything is wired through a relay? The power consumption of the brake light won't be enough to need a relay.

Anyway. Glad the culprit has been identified.

Indeed .... and even if you suspect it might be, 30 secs looking at the wiring diagram would show it isn't ....

the information is usually there if you look for it

As posted above, i looked and couldnt find it, but i also had no clue what some other things were like a diode relay. Its better to ask and be wrong than not ask and mess up completely right?

Anyway, replaced the switch, put the bits and pieces back on, and now it wont start. The clocks spaz out before the whole dask resets and the fuel injection resets, try to start again and it happens again.

What on earth have i done?

Charge your battery .... then try again and report back.

Sorry, forgot to mention it was on charge :) been on for about half an hour, shouldnt be too long now.

Sounds like you got your wires crossed somewhere, symptoms point to a partial short.

Pull it apart and check your wiring AND any potential shorts to ground

It was a bit reluctant, but after a few tries it started up nice and strong. :)

Must have just been a weak battery.

Carbtune should be here tomorrow, that will be fun!
