Hi,
Unfortunately, some blind t**t decided to reverse into my bike.

The sidestand folded and the bike fell on the kerb.

Damage to lhs:
- radiator - bent and leaking,
- fairing panel - cracked,
- indicator,

These are the most obvious, there are also some scratches on the exhaust (very minor) and the rear cowl.

It's been reported, I have the guys details and the insurance is on it.

My question is:
Is it likely that the radiator could have damaged something else when the bike fell an the kerb? Haven't had a chance to have a proper look at it myself, but maybe someone had a similar incident.

With the major faults only, the bill for the parts alone is over £900 (going by ultimate parts) so I'm prepared that the bike will be a written off.

If that's the case I'd be tempted to buy it back and fix it myself - a replacement Delkevic rad is £120, another that for the fairing. I'd be happy with that but I'm curious as to how likely it is for the rad to have damaged something else.

Perhaps someone on here would have some parts for sale?

In this nstance, as the other party is responsible I would ask your insurance as the other party is at fault if they will approve an engineers report - the other party should be liable and pay for that

Report it to police and get an incident number!!

That should identify any other issues that you may miss

Dyz, sorry to hear of your plight.
If they make you a generous offer for it to be written off, maybe it would be worth removing the bits you want, chip, clutch slave etc. and then buying another from someone on the forum who has a good one for sale, sort of kill 2 birds with one stone as it were.

Sorry to hear about this - I'd also suggest you check the upper fairing bracket is straight (the one that holds the fairing and the clocks.

They get bent quite easily and being ally don't take kindly to being straightened ...... they are also rather difficult to find - at least, second-hand ones are.

Is this really necessary? Happened about 100 miles from my place so would probably have to contact Morayshire police.

My insurance is checking the details I (he) gave right now, see what they say. Since he reversed into a stationary (legally parked) vehicle, I cannot see how this could be anything else than 100% his fault.

Thought about that, but this one has been pretty reliable and I trust the bike, would have to go through a bit with a new Falco.
I had a look on biketrader, apart from a 900rr Blade, there's nothing that catches my eye at the moment. I'm not gonna buy a bloody gixxer

There are a few extra bits on the bike, not sure when they should be removed (although they are declared): before any inspection or just after I decide to give up the bike?

The LHS air intake is slightly out of alignment, could you post a drawing or part number which bracket you mean?



Would anyone have a spare radiator and a black fairing panel the don't need (bike is flamingo red)?

Ah, so it's the whole front subframe.

It's ok, I think,
The bike landed on the kerb with it's side so the bars/upper fairing haven't touched the ground (grass) I think.

As it was an accident many insurance companies will ask for a record of you reporting it.... And hopefully plod will feel the idiots collar as a deterrent for the future....

Sounds as if the fairing sub frame has taken a bad knock....

Just had a call from the insurers. Bike will be picked up tomorrow and transported for assessment, blimey that was quick!

And as Alad says.. check and double check the fairing subframe, it's renowned to be made of chocolate when it comes to Falcos falling over

Bike is as standard as I could get it to - pretty much apart braided lines and crash bungs. I have about 600 quid worth of bling on the side (easy, easy vultures!)

Think I have made up my mind: If the bike is repaired, I will keep it, until it dies of old age.

But if it'll be written off with a decent valuation I will probably let it go. Might get another one, might get something else... I'll have plenty of time to think about it.
