AF1 currently has some BRAND NEW sets of the lightest OZ wheels you can currently buy.
These are Forged Magnesium jobbies for the Nera.

They are on special offer $1,100 for the front and $1,199.99 for the rear (that's about £1,450 for a pair at today's rates)
Of course you've then got to import them and take the sort of care of them that you must for magnesium parts.

They are, however, very light:
The rear weighs 4.4kg (that's only 6% heavier than a BST carbon rear)
The front weighs 3.3 kg (that's just 27% heavier than a BST carbon front)

They are very orangey-red too

Ah yes .... and that reminds me .... front rim will be 5mm wider at the hub than the Falco (to fit the radial brakes of the RSVR) ..... either a good excuse for a radial front end to accompany these wheels or the hub needs to be machined down (if you are going to do this, check the measurement - the 5mm just came from memory)

Yeah - they're not selling to Stacey !

BTW our frames are a magnesium alloy (but I'm guessing the magnesium content isn't huge)

As are the engine cases in the RSVR and Tuonew. Probably quite safe, they'd have to get up to a massive temperature before lighting up.

I watched a docmentory about the LeMans racing disaster (which I'd never heard of before) and saw the footage of the magnesium bodied Mercedes going up like a giant flair, spitting balls of flaming metal everywhere. No point chucking water on it as it would make the magnesium burn more, all they could do was leave it to burn out.
