Had my Falco a couple of months now and was generally pleased with it. Still felt it wasn't performing to its full capacity and it felt fairly asthmatic, the engine braking was brutal and trying to ride it round town was a nightmare. Used to be able to leave my brother trailing in my wake on both my 749 and Mille but on a recent trip to Ireland he was breathing down my neck on his Beemer Gs800. I actually wondered if it hadn't been de restricted but checked and wire cut and airbox mod had been done. I then put this down to the fact that the servicing on the bike had been neglected and even after a full service nothing much changed. Was unable to lay my hands on a stock replacement air filter at the time of the service so 2 nights ago I fitted a K&N filter. Well f%%k me I now have a different bike. It revs far more freely, engine braking is smooth and predicable and I can totter around at low speed with no problem at all. I can't believe the difference an air filter can make and this is the best £32.95 I have ever spent. The Mrs even noticed when I took her out last night and asked me what I had done to it. p.s. No I don't work for K&N

That's good to know as i've just fitted a K&N filter last night, I have some twin port cans fitted so felt i needed to come up with something up the front end to help out, haven't been out on it yet, may pop out tonight if rain holds off?

Have also been recomend to add a chip/PC3 as the next mod.

Tend to rely on others recomendations as all this biking stuff is new to me

I have the rene airkit... but have always had it (plus the chip and scorpion end cans) so never known what a Falco is without it!

Fman... if you go out tonight, and I can get my wheels back on the bike AND it doesnt rain I may pop over depending where in Leics you are... I used to work at the Infirmary and know places like Bosworth, Desford etc. quite well.

Sorry just picked up post, didn't get out last night as had to head straight home to Yorks, TBH haven't been out much just seem to grab the odd hour here and there. Did a good run to Mkt Harborough/Melton/Rutland the other Sat.

So you know the Hinckley area then, I'm trying to wangle going to the 21st meet would be good to meet up before year end but as i said it's usually last minute getting out on the bike (it's been a funny old year) and the partners getting used to me having one so trying not too push it

Touch wood, my Falco has been good as gold... its been off the road for a few days for new tyres - I tend to take the wheels in myself to prevent them scratching the bike/buggering anything up and also its an opportunity for a good clean.

I can usually head out most evenings last minute, but weekends need to be planned a little in advance due to Wifey and little 'un!

We could arrange to meet up near Hinkley and head on down to DRider one evening before the nights draw in!

How often do you need to replace the foam filter on the Rene kit?

Well thats four of us for a mini meet then... I've only ever seen two falcos in one place...

For what it's worth I removed the OEM filter and ran the bike without a filter for a hundred miles or so - fantastic fun. Sure it was a bit fluffy low down but anything above 3k revs and the bike was bonkers - and THAT NOISE!!! It just wanted to GO! GO! GO!

Then, I put in a new K&N filter last week and, to be honest, I never noticed the difference from when the stock filter was in. It COULD be that with running the bike filterless I'd forgotten what it was like with the OEM filter in but however you cut it I was disappointed.

Only consolation was that the K&N was a reasonable price off Evilbay.

I'm selling the bike BTW - a clean (bronze) 05 plate with 17275 miles..... need the space now and besides have got the bug out of my system - for this summer at least.
