What kind of work does Griff do?

Is that only on the 29th?

Hi all,

OK, Griff can do anything to your bike, I am not sure if he has a mobile dyno on the van :smt017 Look at his website: Aprilia Performance, he is in tamworth (Office/HQ).

I have yet to confirm the exact location, as for the day, guess depending upon how many guys/bikes that are booked in, would be a full day I would assume :smt003

Unless things have changed very recently (and I doubt it), he doesn't.

The one he used back at Tamworth-Mission-Control before he moved was someone else's that is local to him - and I doubt that has changed either.

Dyzio, if you're wanting stuff done, then talk to Griff beforehand so that he can make sure he's brought what he needs and that he's booked you a slot. Turning up on-spec is probably not the best of plans.

Aye, but if Griff is there only on that day, then I'll have to miss it.

I'm kinda hoping that he'll be around for a day or two :)

Play with Griff in Glasgow/Edinburgh...

#12 Post by GregD-UK » Fri Jul 30, 2010 10:25 am

Hi all,

Well, the ride up started wet, then dried out :smt004 Got there relatively easy. An rsvr went past me on the way to edinburgh, got a wave and thumbs up... Arrived at the "host's" house in east whitburn, greeted by griff and the host's partner with a cup of tea and a hearty bacon and egg butty, splendid. The chap that passed me was there at the house, he was called chris.. strange coincidence :smt001

There was a guy called andy getting his 2005 rsvr serviced and griff played with his spring and general overall feel for the guy's levers peg's were readjusted, great chap. Griff was knowledgeable and can talk the skin off a snake :smt002 My bike was next into the garage as chris let me go first as he said I had further to go to get home, very decent of him. Well, I asked for the TB's to be balanced, griff had fun getting the plugs out of the exhausts, reckon they have never been removed since she came off the production line :smt012 So, my thoughts were correct, before I had it, not much tlc was bestowed on it :smt009 Had to help griff remove the front plug, luckily he has some fresh new one's, had to re-thread the front one a tad. TB's were way out front: 3.7 and back was 7. 6 freaking way out. Before he balanced them, we discussed the merits of the Gabro chip I had in my back-pack :smt007 I have a spanky new pipercross renegade filter (fitted fresh the day before) Aprilia Carbon Race cans and had the renegade aprilia +2 chip. Decided to fit the Gabro chip, then balance the TB's. My throttle was way out with the brain, in diagnostic mode it was -1. So, he duly set up to the ECU and my throttle wires were abit kinked according to griff. That was sorted as well. He also just played with my rear spring. Went for a quick spin....

Holy be-jesus mother of a 1,000 camels :smt007 What a difference, the bike was way more planted, throttle was like I was on a different bike (Scalded cat variety!) turn in was way better. The power deleivery through the gears and general pick-up was way, way, better. I filled up with premium petrol and had a Huge smile on my face :smt003 Went back and thanked griff, as I have a totally different bike now. Paid my fee and thanked the hostess (dropped a tenner from us all, as she kept us fed and watered all day). The ride home was a dream, no rattle below 3,000 revs like before. Power was definately up, that Gabro chip is well worth the purchase. Shall email him to thank him later on.

The overall day was fun, and we had some good crack and chat. Griff had some good stories and we all generally enjoyed the "Aprilia talk," thoroughly recommend an "Host" event to anyone. My bike feels so much different now, almost re-born, now I know it has been "Griffed" :smt020
