gears...something or nothing?

Have recently fitted Carbon Can exhausts and recently had to have the clutch bled as there was a leak, not that it's relevant just thought i'd mention it.
Just a niggle but when i first started riding the bike i always struggled to justify top gear, would happily sit at 70 in 5th...now i don't know whether i'm getting used to it but in getting into 5th then 6th very quickly even on A roads and almost feel i need another gear
Going from memory when i'm doing say 70 in 6th it's usually 4-5k on the rev, only been up to 90 ish and think it was up to 6-7k ish...does this sound about right? It's a dumb 'Newbie' question i know but it's just niggling at the back of my mind because i have only cars to relate too and no previous bike experience
Currently no chip, PC and standard air filter...looking into all this later in the year

reckon it is you getting used to the engine
and from what i recall that is about right revs wise

With 15:41 final drive gearing (not standard 16:41), 5,000 rpm in 6th is about 80mph (indicated) on an autobahn or private track - so I believe ....

I fitted race cans and a K&N some time before I changed the gearing and had a similar experience.
This set up made it pull smoother from low revs to mid range and cut out the main flatspot.
I think one of the reasons I didn't use 6th very much before was because it was always used at low revs where it didn't pull very well.
I reckon the smoother running after the cans were fitted made 6th much flexible and usable.
It made some sense to me, but it could all be in my imagination!
Going for the 15 Tooth front spocket made it much better still.

I distinctly remember that when I was running mine in @ 6,000 rpm in standard trim gets you to 100mph in 6th, so I'd suggest the gearing is different from standard.
As has been said, I think you are noticing that the flat spot is gone and enjoying the engine more

I get 80mph from 5000 rpm in 6th. That's with a 15t front sprocket and standard rear.

I have 15tooth front and 42tooth rear
75mph is 4,750 rpm in 6th
90mph is around 6k IIRC
I thought the standard was 16/42?
I'm putting new sprockets on over the winter so you can guess what my next question is... I'm going to stick with the 15tooth front, but what are peeps thoughts on changing the rear? I'm guessing one tooth on the rear makes less difference than the front, and am I right in thinking to further improve the acceleration I should add more teeth at the back?
Whats an acceptable combination?
I don't care about top speeds at all... just the acceleration

Nope - 16/41 is standard for the Falco

Reducing the teeth on the front or adding to the rear will lower the gearing and potentially improve acceleration (though it will also affect the speed at which you change gear which may leave you with slightly less acceleration at certain times).
I wouldn't reduce the front to below 15t so increasing the rear is your option - but remember more teeth need more chain links .....

Yeah I wasn't going to go lower than 15 at the front... so I just need to decide on the rear... I may have a look at that gearing website I saw a link to *rummages around forum*
