getting spare keys cut
Hi all
just wondering - can I get keys cut for the bike at any old place or do I have to do something special?
I think a spare set of keys might be a good idea for this trip (bike only came with one set)

No there absolutely definitely certainly is no immobiliser on a standard Falco.Dalemac wrote:On the falco the plastic shroud falls away from the actual key, and while this doesnt sound too bad, it wont start without the plastic shroud in place. I think there must be a relay in it or something.
Mine has an immobiliser but there is no transponder in the key.

But I have seen certain aftermarket manufacturers offer their "fob" as a key attachment, so your key is fitted into the fob and becomes a single unit, is this what you've got Dale? My Datatool had that option

Thats weird, becuase i can promise you that without the plastic shroud on my key, it will not start.Dalemac wrote:On the falco the plastic shroud falls away from the actual key, and while this doesnt sound too bad, it wont start without the plastic shroud in place. i will get a video for you tomorrow.
My backup key broke today :( Knew I had this issue before!
I've got a Combi Key (tm). Basically as well as the metal part of the key, and the plastic surround, there is something with a part number of PCF79730S - seems to be some sort of chip which interacts with the plastic part of the top yoke that has two wires which run down under the tank with the throttle cables.
Without it, the bike dash will turn on but the fuel relay will not kick in and the starter button doesn't respond.

Now i need to find a new surround for the key form somewhere.

If you can't find out what it is and who makes it (think you might have some of this info) and if spare keys are available, it'll be a case of ripping it out and returning the wiring back to standard.
.... unless you can get a new key cut and glue the key part of the transponder to the new key ... or something.

Yeah the only thing I know is that it is a Combi Key (tm). But I can't find anything, even in the old receipts, that indicate an immobiliser.D-Rider wrote:If you can't find out what it is and who makes it (think you might have some of this info) and if spare keys are available, it'll be a case of ripping it out and returning the wiring back to standard.

Here are the actual keys:

Easiest solution is to find a key case that is openable so I can replace the actual key and store the transponder.
