exhaust length

#1 Post by furygan man » Mon Jun 14, 2010 5:29 pm

don't have the bike to hand but am i right in thinking the 'fat part' was 450mm long, so when you order a replacement the measurment is the 'fat bit' and don't include the outlets??

Ordered 450mm received 400mm, just need a few facts before i loose my rag completely...the 'Carbon Can Co' saga continues!!!!!

PM Sent, but my scorpions are 450mm and thats just the silencer/fat bit, not the link pipe or outlet

oooh tuned lengths..

you my find the shorter will perform just fine. if you imagine a pulse wave travelling up from the link pipe end of the can up towards the exit in relation to the throttle being opened, if it 'goes too far' and pops out of the end its deffo too short a short can and youll lose power (still hungover bear with me) at higher revs, however this can all be played with with bore diameters straightness of the linkpipes, how the collectors flow and such like.

Or something like that.

My Beowulf titanium cans are just over 450mm for the fat bit, but I'm sure some people on here have used the shorter stubbie cans at some time. Let's face it the loss of 2" ain't such a problem when you've still got 16".

The "fat bits" on my Quill T3's are 405mm long, or short, depends if your glass is half full or not :smt017
