Anyone had a full respray on their Falco?
My bike is pretty pristine but I fancy an all black look (gloss). Probably goes with with my personality
AND IT'S NOTHING TO DO WITH THE FACT THAT IT'S A BRONZE JOBBY
Any advice or comments welcome!
Whilst my Falco is definitely a keeper for the foreseeable (and I haven't said that before!) I've always avoided paint jobs on used bikes like the plague 'cos I reckoned they'd been dropped, raced etc. Maybe I've been reading too much RiDE albeit haven't bought one of them for ten years or so!
So is it worth it????

.
..
Splitter? Is that a posh splutter?
Bronze jobby? Whadyamean? A lot of folk would be delighted to have one of them.
Toilet humour?
Yeah, I know, I'm leaving

tbh - if the bike is good now - paint wise, I would start to assemble spare panels - irrespective of the colour or condition, just pick them up cheap...
hardest thing is likly to be a tank - other panels go through evil bay fairly often - just be judicious about the prices etc
and note to yound Mr Grace - why would i want to take the michael out of your rusty brown colour bikes??
bit like laughing at the special olympics synchronised swimming team.....
(yes I know but ....)
Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

Well obviously I can see why you would want to paint a BRONZE JOBBY black, (Black Crow would be better!).
But seriously, if the existing paint is in good nick, which it should be on a later Falco, I would leave it as is for the reasons you and others have already covered.
The BRONZE JOBBY is actually quite unique and looks good as is, (But don't tell Andy I said that, we need to maintain the colour war!).
Aprilia paintwork seems pretty good to me and does not seem to suffer the problems of more modern bikes with newer PC/EF paints.
Spend the money you will save on other improvements where needed.
Or just spend on fuel and enjoy riding it more!

I'm intrigued to know what kind of liqueur you used as a topcoat. I hope it's a Scotch whisky liqueur!
I'm not a great fan of colour changes on any vehicle but you've swayed me on two counts:
1) I love black Falcos
2) You have a bronze bike now. I'll happily lend you my brand new spraygun!

I would like to remind people that although I seldom do so, I do have the power to moderate this forum and "correct" what is being written .... particularly when it concerns the colour Bronze ....
Damn .... just remembered they made Pete a moderator too .... he'll only change it back again ....

I'm thinking of removing some of the decals on mine (the ones on the front fairing SL FALCO) because they look a bit tatty and I prefer a minimalist solid colour look
perfectly happy with the metallic red though I think its nice

i have been thinking about color change also, and since having a minor slide down the road i'm even more on for it, problem is color, i also have the bronze color, which i love, but was thinking about a glacier white, with perhaps bright blue wheels, oz colour, or same colour as on the new cbr600 special edition. any opinions?

Shootmyscoot's Falco might give you a good idea - predominantly white with some red
