just wondering what kind of revs you normally ride the bike at..

I don't mean track or flat out road racing but just general having a good time on a sunday kinds of speeds, B roads etc?

I'm finding that I am rarely above third gear, in fact I'm actually changing into the higher gears when I'm slowing down - eg hitting traffic or whatever.. is that all wrong?

I love riding on the throttle and using the engine braking so it feels right to me but just wondering what you lot think?

Well around town say 2,500 when pootling along - maybe up to 4,000 getting up there.
Out of town - well as much as I need depending on how quick I want to accelerate and then in to top with whatever revs that gives at the speed I'm doing.
Up and down the box through the twisties of course.

i never ride around in 3rd gear. get into 6th and if you need to go just open the trottle, look in your mirrors and you'll see chunks of tarmac flying up.

Depending on the road I'm usually in fifth or sixth, opening up the throttle and she moves quick enough! If the road is particuarly twisty usually third or fourth, but to be honest its not a rule 'cos I just choose whatever gear feels right.

Somebody on here (cannot remember who, maybe hisnibs?) mentioned something about the fun you can have in fourth gear, pootling around at 2,500rpm (which isn't that comfortable tbh) and then opening her up... hell of a rush.

Also depends on your gearing; do you have standard-sized sprockets?

presumably standard yeah..

so another question then - what revs do you shift up at when you are caning it? i.e. what max revs do you ride to (presuming you haven't yet hit flat out in top :D

I'm a wuss and have set my rev limit light to 7,500k and usually change before that... I do occasionally take it a lot higher, but insane speeds come-calling pretty quickly when in higher gears

My rev indicator light is set to 10,250 .... get there sometimes when having a bit of fun - don't bother pushing it that far every day though - it's not necessary.

(obviously not in the higher gears)

im the same 8 k maybe 9 k when before i gcange gear but normal driving about 6k before i change gear , i sit at 80 in top when on the motorway , round town im lucky if i get into 4 th , but 3rd and forth for most country roads roand here , plenty of grunt in the bike you dont need to wind it up power is always there

I love keeping the revs as high as possible then drop down one for corners,never need the brakes then.

As Pete says !!
On a steady (ish) run you can go pretty quick and never go above 6 or 7 k.
Yes you can hit the limiter (not the light) when playing, but you really don't need to, to go pretty quickly, have fun and stay at 40 plus mpg.
That's the best thing about the Falco you don't need to rev it that hard, just ride it on the torque.
Sometimes I'll not have it anything like flat for ages on a run, then, when you do open it up, it reminds you it's got a bloody good top end as well.

I tend to keep the revs up, usually between 4000 and 8000 in 3rd, 4th and 5th if I'm out having fun. Very rarely get over 9000 as the power starts to drop off then, just change up and ride the torque wave once more.

Bimble mode is a bit more mellow, 3000 to 6000 normally, using 6th more often.

Do Falcos have a sixth gear????? If so I haven't found it in 20,000 miles of ownership. Even on the motorway (which I try to avoid) 5th is much more responsive ans thats with a 15 tooth front sprocket.

On twisty roads 3rd is spot on and no need to use the brakes......
