Love it love it love it!

Oh yes I love the Falco, its official

I went out to Bassetts Pole tonight to meet up with a mate on his new bike (Fazer thou) and the intention was for us to go for a ride but he got called home by his wife :smt009 so after a coffee I headed off for a quick ride.

And what a ride it was!

I headed from BP over to Furnace End and then up to Atherstone... its my usual daily commute when on bike but its the first time with the Falco... how satisfying that was... and how much different this beast is to the IL4's I rode on this route day in, day out.

The drive out of the corners is simply amazing, the sound (even with my newly installed DB killers) is so addictive... it was such a joy :smt020

Overtaking was effortless... and a few times I attempted to be hard on the throttle when pulling away but I just ran out of road like nothing I've experienced!

I'm still getting used to the vtwin... mainly being in too low a gear at slow speed and juddering a bit... just getting used to what gear is appropriate for what condition... but that'll come with time.

One thing I did notice at times was when in neutral there was a rattling noise from what I would say is the clutch/gearbox area... it would quieten down a bit when the clutch was pulled in... sometimes it was obvious, other times it wasn't. I'm not overly concerned with it but maybe its something I need to keep an eye on. Is there something I should know re: quirks on the falco and normal noises?!?

It sounds as though you're finding out what the fun's all about.
Yes a 1litre I-4 will have bigger bragging numbers and out drag you at the end of a straight .... but that's not where the Falco is fun ....

You've not bought a Ducati without realising it have you?

I don't think its a Duc :smt012

I think I'm over sensitive... and it only makes a slight rattle when in neutral, idling and clutch not depressed.

I'm currently planning a route for tomorrow with my Fazer thou mate... probably 200 miles or so... and probably going to head down towards Worcester, pick up A44 towards Rhayader and see where the wind takes us :smt001

Rattle noise

#6 Post by GregD-UK » Fri Apr 09, 2010 9:17 pm

Hi all,

OK fella, I would check the tightness of your gear linkage to your rearsets. Mine was a smidge loose, when I was changing up got a rattle/vibration from the gear arm... As other possibility, could be a loose bolt or two, together with the cover maybe :smt017

With the vtwins, things can shake rattle and roll fella. Just give everything a check, and have some locktight to hand :smt002
My warranty is the clear/smoked tail lights around the corner!!

Sounds like you're getting to know the bike we all love.
I'm sorry to say ....................................................................................... it only gets better Rick.
For the first few months I never wanted to take it home, I'd go past our house down the main A road and go for another loop round somewhere.
It's the most addictive bike I've ever had and the best, and sadly for me it's never gone away :smt001
Keep riding and enjoying.
Gearbox rattle in neautral with the clutch out :smt017
Mine has done it for nearly 6 years, never bothered me, nothing like as loud as a Duke.
Have a really good ride this weekend.

:smt003 :smt003

All around mid Wales I love... I used to live in Welshpool and I worked in Aberystwyth for several years so know the roads extremely well in a car... always remember the first time I took my bike on those roads and oh my god how much more did I enjoy it :smt005

So if anyone sees a red falco around Worcester - Leominster - Rhayadar - Mid Wales and maybe then Quatt be sure to gimme a high five :)

that apply to team filth as well??

and i hope you are going to the national aprilia meet....

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

Took mine out for a fifty mile blast today, up the A82 to Crianlarich then onto Tyndrum for a brew, bike running sweet. Then stopped at the MOT testing station and got a fresh ticket, passed with flying colours. Rode home and pled with the wife to keep the Falco as well as my newly aquired ZZR....she laughed :smt009 . Anyone want a ZZR?

So stick one of them on ebay with a starting bid or reserve that's a bit on the high side .... and when you find you just can't sell it you will be seen to have made the effort.
:smt002

If it does sell, the extra cash will soften the blow (unless it is the Falco that goes)
