Race cans for road use

I have Scorpion race cans on the falco and they sound awesome, are basically brand new (cheers for never using them AJ!) but they are frigging loud!. I'm slightly worried that they aren't road legal and I don't fancy getting stopped and questioned on a regular basis by plod... so I've been thinking about some alternatives.

In the past I've had blue flame dual port (didn't like how when legal one of the ports is bunged up!) and have also had a fuel can which was ace. If I were to change them i'd opt for cans that are road legal but have removable baffles like fuel. Question is would these be ok with the chip and renne air box?

Also how much duya think those scorpions are worth? I'm going to give them a couple of weeks and see how I get on but I may end up flogging them.

Any advice appreciated, as ever!

If they are race cans, then they are not road legal. Same as road legal cans with baffles pulled out.
Instead of looking for a new set (£300 new, minimum), how about trying to source some universal baffles for your Scorpions?

I'll guess that some on here run their cans with no baffles all the time, maybe except the MOT day ;)

well

I actually run my delicate sounding Renegade Mille Race cans with the baffles in - with out them your ear hurt!

rather than being considered offensively loud, my neighbours seem to quite like them - they say they are not offensively loud....

me - I would put some DB killers in the cans then see what you think

I would also hold off doing anything major until you have been to meet a few other falco owners and heard our pipes - National aprilia day will give you an idea about what you can get away with

Oh - team filth do have some rules they have to adhere to with regard to loud cans - I guess the rule is - do not take the piss....

(just wait for my micro stubby.... that will be obscene... definitely not for any use beyond I fancied making one.....)

I was thinking that you should be able to buy some sort of baffle for them... will have a search for db killers :)

DB Killers a with race cans are the way forward, they still maintain a modicum of performance over standard cans as theyre free flowing, theyre obviously lighter, yet drop the noise down enough to make them acceptible. I believe Scorpion's own DB Killers are fully roadlegal when fitted properly.

Pete, since your new cans are not "offensively loud"...

How do mine (no baffles) compare to them?

Those are a nice rumble ;)
(I kept the small, baffles in btw...)

if I did not have my renegades then I would go blue flame every time

Hehehe they do make a nice rumble... :)
Although I might go back to the small baffle, was surprised myself that cars were moving out of my way when filtering. I've passed a friend and he said he could hear me from way back :smt004

I have Beowulf titanium road legal oval race cans with baffles.
They work well with the standard chip with the baffles in. Take them out and Beowulf reckon they would need a chip or a Power Commander. The baffles are very short with a slight kink and do almost nothing, but can be clearly seen,
I have never taken them out as they sound great now, (bit too loud if I am honest, especially if I take my ear plugs out!), but the cans are stamped legal and have the baffles in with rivets in place, so whenever I have been stopped the police, they seem very wary of them, but have let me off so far, also go through MOT OK.

I've got beowulf warriors on mine and they sound mega, with or without the baffles. I did have a set of Blueflame race cans, but they were embarassingly loud, I once overtook a mate in his car at speed, and he reckoned it was like someone kicking his doors in! I like a loud pipe, but not an anti social one and when I'm off to work at 0500 don't want to piss too many people off!

I doubt that would kill much in the way of decibels on your big thumping twin. i'd be looking for ones with perforations to help break up the pulse and lower the db's

Just my opinion. i suppose 20 quid it could be worth a punt. :smt012
