Why are these things so hard to get hold of for the mighty Falcos

I came across this DIY thing, might give it a go especially as it'll allow me to keep the rack on.

There's always the DIY one that Falcomunky made posted up on Apriliaridersite - and I've posted it up links to it on a number of occasions.

Here again ...... https://www.ridersite.com/viewtopic.ph ... =tail+tidy

HINT: It pays to use the forum SEARCH function

I made one for jadaris falco - the template of that was then used to make a solid aluminium one

to be really cheap skate head to b and q and get two L brackets - open them up to about 120 degrees

Mount those brackets and then hold the reg plate to the brackets and mark where you need to drill the plate

bolt up tight and there you go

have a look at the recent images I posted of jadaris' falco - all makes sense then :)

If there's enough interest, i can have some made up ready to go.. would need to know thick the material would be and also what the angle of the long bend is.. The smaller 'ears' would be 90deg i suspect. Material choices would be mild steel, powder coated or stainless steel. Can work out some costs if need be.. :smt002

Right then boys and girls.. A couple of CAD images for you to have a look over.

I've drawn the first one straight from the sketch above. The hole centres are all a guess as they were not stipulated.

And this is "Option 2". To make it final, i'll need to know the internal diameter (ID) of the mounting holes and also the centres in relation to the bracket, and themselves. Would also be a help to know the centres for the tail light mounting holes and the number plate mounting holes.

Image

Option 2 would be the better one to go for and could be made out of 1.5mm - 2mm stainless for strength. The weight difference between stainless and mild on a part this size would be small. I personally don't think aluminium would be an option, unless it's at least 4mm - 5mm thick.

Let me know which one to finish up and i'll get a price. Part can be modified to include indicator ears or be made wider if needed.

Where would the indicators go?

I'm currently thinking about the tail tidy on my Falco... whilst its ok, I wouldn't mind seeing whats available and there doesn't seem to be much!

So I'm also interested...

the beauty about doing this is they can be made and modified to suit who ever wants one.. so provision can be made for indicators, scottoilers, smaller number plates etc.. the possibilities are endless. :smt003

Will - in my box of spares I think I've got the bracket that this attaches to on the bike - this will sort out all of the hole centre issues etc.
I'll have a look for it and if I find it, I'll bring it over when I come to view your new garage-complex.

If not, we can get all the sizes off of my Falco.

BTW I'm up for one ............ but it will need a few differences .........
