Hi all..

As you can probably fathom out from my user name, me names Will. Been biking from a young age (rode my first PTW at age 5!) and love nothing more than a tinker around in the shed in the morning, then out for a blast in the afternoon. My current line up incldudes a 1966 Triumph 6T "Thunderbird", 1974 Triumph T140 Chop, 1983 Kawasaki KZ1100 LTD and a 1986 BMW K100.. Along with other smaller machines like CG125's and CB250N's.. Theres even a GPZ305 in there for good measure!

So.. "Where's the Falco?" i hear you shout.. Well, that's what i'm here for. Some of you may know a chap called "D-Rider" (a quiet chap and doesn't seam to post much ), he's informed me that going down the route of Ducati may not be wise, and that an Aprilia Falco may be the better option. After long chats over MSN and e-mail, with him being very helpfull in finding me a potential suitor, i've decided the Falco is the bike for me. All that stands in the way is the sale of the Kwak, which i'm hoping to get cleaned up and on eBay over the next few days.

A little more about me.
I'm 27, live in Coventry (England) with my future wife and two young sons (number 3 due very soon!). I come from a railway background and have a passion for steam and early diesel locomotives. My occupation is CNC waterjet cutting (which comes in very handy), and am also working to become a tool maker/mechanical engineer for my own needs, rather than a propper job (if they still exist in this warehouse state!). Am pretty laid back and have one of the thickest of skins when it comes to piss taking etc.. Enjoy a good laugh and beer when out with me pals, and like helping others out using my mechanical knowledge wherever possible.

Not a lot else to say really.. Looking forward to getting to know the forum and it's members.. But above all.. GET A FALCO!!

Welcome Will. Sounds like you'll fit in well here, even if the first post wasn't in the virtual bar!

I do have reservations tho ... any friend of Andy's is one to beware of.

Hi Will, and welcome to the site.
By the sound of it you'll fit in on here, we're all a bit thick skinned, ( you have to be ).

As for the being young part, you must have an old head or you wouldn't have this engineering thing in his head.
Anyone young these days goes into this type of thing i'm trying to use that us older folk don't fully understand.

Just the thought of what I could do with a CNC water jet is getting the creative thoughts going.

I'm old enough to have been trained on the early CNC lathes & milling m/c's back in the 70's. Punched ticker tape ran 2 of em!

My mate has 2 Ducati's, I love em and I want one but I would always take an Aprilia first.

My mind is very old. Love all the stuff 'old' people are stereotyped with and despise most of the things 'young' people are associated with. I like old music (70's n' 80's heavy metal/rock mostly), old bikes and old fashioned ways of doing things. Some times it doesn't all go to plan, but can't have it all. I'm only in the job i'm in because the work will help with my bike habit.. another old fashioned way of doing things I suppose.. Tried the computer thing, got bored.. Did electronic servicing for a couple of years too.. again, got bored. I'm a hands on type bloke.. Like to get stuck in and see how stuff works, understand how it works, then improve it to make it work better.

Age is just a number to me.. 27 or 57.. it's the age of the mind that counts. (if i was as old as the woman i feel, i'd be 21 )

Samray. Apologies for not posting in the right bit.. If there's a 'mod' that can move it.. please do if it'll make things easier.

Nooj. Bring it on! Although i've still got a fridge shelf to make for Andy. He gave me the drawing for it.. erm.. quite a while ago now..

Hi Will and welcome aboard. Good luck with impending arrival .... as well as the Falco. Lots of great reliable advice here.

Welcome. Sounds like you fit in ok. I don't think you'll much better than a well moded Falco especially if you'd rather ride the thing than work on it or pose down the high street.

I also spent many years running CNC machine tools but that was befor you were born........

But as you say age is not a barrier and I'm only a little bit more sensible than I was.

They are all great here, very supportive and er put up with er my lack of knowledge

You seem to have most things sorted already and a good selection of bikes, so I agree with your decision, all you need now is a Falco.
You won't regret it mate.
