Time to move on

So after much soul searching I have decided to part ways with my Falco. Essentially the decision is down to the fact that I will be a home owner soon and I need rely on one motorcycle that does it all but with more of a lean on the touring/comfort side than the Falco offers me. I have had plans to get a Tiger 1050 for touring since my last trip to France in August last year... and this will be my do-it-all bike. Im going English!

However I hope to hang around even though lately its been more in lurker form than as an actual participant.

I will have a few bits to sell which I will probably just drop on ebay. I will put a list of things in the classified section in case anyone is interested.

Dom, you'd better be sticking around !

As for the vultures reading this, Dom has some very tasty bits on his Falco - not sure which bits he'll be selling separately but there's either going to be a well sorted Falco up for sale or a very tempting pile of goodies!

Tuono bars, cut down fairing, luggage rack = touring Falco, cheaper than a new bike :smt003

... though not a new bike ....

Oh, BTW if anyone is thinking of taking a hacksaw to their lovely Falco plastics, then talk to me first - I've got a spare that's already cut down .... could save another good one from being ruined ....

Good on you for going British. Do we own Triumph though? But why have only one bike? I have a Falco and a CB500 - don't laugh. Between them they can do most things. I just need an Enduro and perhaps a 2 stoke.... Seriously though, the insurance for both bikes is only £100ish and tax is cheap. The CB500 is probably worth £500 and will last forever.

Sad to hear the Falco is going Dom, but understand your reasons.
Obviously, you'll always be welcome on here, it'll be interesting to see how you get on with the new bike.
Hope it all works out well, I'm sure you'll come back and tell us.

Thought about this and almost went with it, but is still leaves the falco short on a few touring attributes

Its true British... read up about John Bloor, a good old-school hard-working Brit... he resurected the brand and Triumph is doing very well. They do have a factory in Hinckley and 3 in Malaysia so there is some outsourcing.

I get your point, but when i looked at the numbers it just did not make sense to pay for insurance, MOT, service + other consumables on 3 bikes... the amount allocated to 'biking' is better spent on trips around Europe.

The other factor is I joined this crowd www.spyderclub.co.uk - read up about their service, I went to their open day and was hooked by the idea. I will post post up when they have their next open day as I can bring 2/3 guests to spend the day riding their fleet for free! No obligation to join.

John Bloor may be a hard working guy from England but having owned a beautifu 675 in the past with Japanese brakes, suspension and electronics you can't say full British.
Nothing these days (from any country) will be fully sourced from the home countries.

IMHO

Andy is just fine and dandy ta muchly fer asking.

I have a wee sideline selling woodburning stoves which is keeping the wolves away from the door for the time being.

I doubt it'll make me a millionaire tho.

In this economic climate we must turn a pound wherever we can.

I'm still lucky at the moment, but know plenty whose jobs have gone, quite a few on here. You have to do what you can to pay the bills and keep tickin over.
The weather this year must have helped the sales of the stoves a bit!
Good luck mate hope things get better soon.

P.S. Send us some more pics of Eileen Doonan, next time you're up there.
Wish I had easier access to those fabulous Highland roads.

Stick around Dom and let us know how you get on with the Tigger - probably see at the petrol station in Kendal again....what are the chances of that eh?
