The finished article

So I'm trying to get some LED indicators inside the O/E mirrors on the Falco.

In part 1 I did the drilling and testing

In part 2 I got the wiring through the articulating joint
https://www.ridersite.com/viewtopic.php?t=5476

So in this final thrilling episode I get the 12v concave LED’s (unfortunately in my excitement I forgot to get a picture of them).

I pulled them out of their T5 housing (crappy piece of plastic) and although they are a snug fit in the holes I siliconed them in too.

Once all in I soldered them together in parallel.

Then soldered up the connector wire.

I used a zip tie to prevent inadvertent pulling on the wire buggering things up.

This is the mirror backing plate.

And this is the mirror backing plate with some tape to fill the gaps,Velcro for the mirror and getting the silicone treatment. The gap is quite big and I’m not convinced this is good enough to seal the unit.

So I siliconed the mirror in too.

And clamped ‘till it was set – tip is to clean the mirror when the silicone is still wet, just makes life easier and messier.

Drum roll for the big finish

Unfortunately I’ve not had the chance to ride it yet (no insurance) indicators should be fine, just need to see what the mirrors are like now.

Hi all,

Yeap, looks quite good there fella, hope the led's last and don't ever have to be replaced :smt002 Is there a heat issue with them on the plastic, or, as they are on very intermittantly, they won't heat the plastic housing.

Cheers, replacement will be a pain, but that's why I used Velcro and silicone.

Good point on the heat, but that's going to be at the little resistors and as you say they are intermittantly on and with the wind on the plastic I doubt it'll be an issue.

Can't wait to try them in anger.
