I have finally managed to get my hands on rsv '01 shock,dogbone and links. It has covered a reported 17000 miles, with a big heavy aboard (19 stone). I'm thinking I would like a re-build and have it set to my spec to try and get the most out of it prior to fitting. Any reccomendations on where, how much and value, ie is it worth it ?

I'm a bit cheap but I heard and my experience verifies, that uless the seals are clearly fkd, just taking the spring off and then fully compressing and extending the shock a couple of times does the trick.

Cheers for the tip. Cheap is right up my street, I will give it a go. Looks like a rebuild will costs two to three times the amount paid for the shock.

I know that Revs Racing charge £85 + parts ... at least they did a few months back

Had mine re-built with new spring, and re-valved to keep the falco linkage and suit my pie-eating build, cost £185 + £12 for the Ohlins seal & piston ring kit, then the VAT man took his 15% too! But money well spent.

My ohlins is at reactive at the mo, £145 which includes havin the spring re-coated!
