£1000 for a pair of wheels, come on...
I see the carbon wheels on ebay have just gone over £1000. Call me tight fisted but that seems excessive unless you're after lap times. Anyone wish to enlighten me?
I've been silently watching these .... and I'd be throwing a royal fit about them being posted up before the auction ends had they not already gone a little bit above what I'd be prepared to pay (probably) ......
Lightweight wheels are one of the best mods you can make to improve handling. The OZ wheels on mine (that I would have sold to part fund the deal) made a huge difference - the even lighter BST wheels are really the ultimate.

Yes, hope I didn't rain on the old parade
I was tempted, but I baulked at £500 for some dymag wheels, so £1000 is out of the question. I guess there's a good chance they would hold their value though? However, would they be in demand in 3-4 years? Probably. Best of luck. I'm still chasing OZ wheels if anyone has any.

So, they went for £1070 in the end - that's half the price of a brand new set.
I thought when they hit the £1000 mark yesterday they'd reach £1300 to £1500 at the end of the auction.
Probably just as well I wasn't near my PC when the auction ended - I think I'd have probably got carried away and bid £1100 on the fanciful thought that I could sell my OZ wheels for top-dollar ...........
Anyone we know bought them?

I had a bid on them but was away for the weekend so was unable to do any last minute 'sniping'. I didn't win them but they went for less than I probably would have paid had I been here to watch the action. Oh well I probably shouldn't have been spending my 'reserves' on the bike, however I had rationalised that there would always be the posibility to resell if needed.

Yeah - much the same thought process as you Keith - but was also aware that I'd probably never liquidate the capital I'd tied up in them as that would mean getting to the stage to flog the bike ....
Beginning to wish that I had "pushed the boat out" though - don't expect I'll ever see another set come up - certainly not at that price.

I also baulked at £500 for OZ but was preparaed to go over the £1000 for the CF. Excessive possibly but it is a mod where the benefits are multiple . The weight loss on the rotating mass of the wheel is effectively multiplied. Acceleration forward, rotational acceleration, giroscopic forces slowing changes of direction and then unsprung weight acting on the suspension.I was tempted, but I baulked at £500 for some dymag wheels, so £1000 is out of the question.
I have lusted after a set for a long time but £2200 list would see a significant drop on resale where as bought second hand for £1000, if I ever got round to selling the Falco the wheels would be easy to sell seperately and thus recoup a substantial portion of the initial spend.
I have had the Falco for 5 years now and still love it but wouldn't have minded a little pep me up in the relationship. Then there is the point that if I bought a fancy new bike some one, who expects to be obeyed, would have noticed. A slightly different grey sheen to the usually rather dirty wheels......

Didn't want to respond while the auction was running as it would have drawn even more attention to it. Sorry about that D-Rider. Yes, I understand why I was a little indiscrete there! I assumed Mille track day boys would be buying them, but clearly there were people here who wanted them. I guess I was a little frustrated they had gone so high, but I guess that's their value. The OZ wheels seem light enough for me, but I can see the attraction of CF. I'm beginning to wish I'd gone for the dymags now

No - don't worry about posting up - the poll result has shown the overall will of the forum is to allow posting of any auction site stuff and that's good enough for me.
Sorry for reacting a bit beforehand.
