Hi all,

OK, my new bling work of art in the pipeline is, mirror blanking plates I am getting a plate made in either aluminum (anodized colour of choice) or in resin (any colour) depending on cost

Have spoken to a fair few CNC machinists and found that the setup costs for tooling etc is dependant on how many is produced obviously My plan is to make a plate same size as the plate that fits on the current mirror which sits between the front fairing and the metal front chassis that it sits on (Hope I explained it ok). Seen some produced by evotech on fleebay. Anywho, I am proposing a central hole drilled as well as the two main holes for fitting onto the fairing. This is so, you can bolt through the same type of mirror connectors that sit on the handle bars. So, a multitude of mirrors can be attached to your liking

I have bought some rizoma one's, very sexy and practical Better than the OEM one's which are carp for your last look for plod before a handful is engaged

Have to agree the standard mirrors are good for nothing other than viewing your elbows. I get a lot of vibration through mine (not sure if thats normal) which means anything at a distance is a complete blurr.

Would definately be interested in the blanking plates if they will be suitable to take a pair of Rizoma mirrors. Some of them are very tasty. Obviously also depending on price.

Check your top fairing bracket - don't want to be a merchant of doom but I've heard of some that have had this vibration and the cause was a cracked bracket.

There are other potential causes too so don't panic.



Greg - are these the mirror mounts we were talking about for the Gixer mirrors?
A sketch would be good and maybe some idea of price.
Depending on what they are and how much, I could be in.

My initial intension was to get fabricated a resin mirror mounting bracket to fit the gixer mirrors that had the led indicators in them. The mount got too stage one of a mock demo, but, it looked quite big

So, plan "B" emerged out of perusing through the rizoma website. Thought a simple plate that attached onto the fairing, thus enabling the attachment of one bolt hole connection. Using the same type of mirror mounts that attach onto the handlebar hole

At present, I am awaiting a price back from a firm in somerset of all places that said they would do it. As they make similar plates for ALL the jap bikes but not any italian bikes....

So, it will have an shampher shoulder similar to the evotech one's and hopefully (depending on price) be made out of billet aluminum, so it can be anodised to your colour of choosing. If that option too expensive, then, made out of resin.

I'm sure I remember someone on AF1 making adapter plates to allow RSVR mirrors (with built-in indicators) to be fitted to Falco's.

I got the impression he turned them out himself on order.

I made my own blanking plates from a sheet of cheap carbon - I then fitted bar end mirrors that I quite like now.
Limited field of vision and it takes a bit of getting used to but very clear image....

Yeah a couple of people on AF1 have made them. Littlecheeze was the most recent.

Some on here have them - Nooj for one.

I'd have been tempted myself but for the cost of RSVR mirrors and that they don't really improve the view beyond your elbows.

Thanks for the tip about cause of mirror vibration, I'll take a look shortly to see if I can see anything untoward!!

Update: found another place in langley park (near durham) not far from where I live, guy does bespoke parts for harleys and the like. He will be back on friday, so going to have a chat with him on fabbing the blanking plates

Will hopefully get a price at the same time, the place in somerset is pants, no return phone call even though they promised

Is there any interest apart from D-Rider and Blenks?

Got caught out earlier this year by a plod-bike cos o the stubby bloody mirrors! Followed me fer two mile at ton-plus speeds before he could get beside me to flag me down! Thankfully I was in Durham n just got a pep talk off him!

Well, picked up 2nd prototype about an hour ago!












The final cut is, we need 4 plates, 2 at 7mm thick to replace the plate on our original mirror fixing that goes between the fairing and the chassis. And 2 which are 5mm thick with a 3mm shampher around the shape for a cleaner look.
The cost, is £27.00 plus p+p. They are made of resin, which is very hard. Forgot to mention, they can be made in any base colour, black, red, green, blue etc.....

The cost is because two moulds have to be made for the two different shapes. The cost for CNC machining would be astronomical, because if only 2 or 3 sets are made the CNC setting up costs wouldn't be viable for a few cuts

Just off-topic for a moment ... those rizoma reservoirs are lovely and those grips .... what are they ?

Well, having seen the pics, then count me in for a set of plates. I'm probably leaning towards black at the moment, but depends on the actual shades of resin available.

The Rizoma mirrors look well sharp and actually look like they'll do the job (shock, horror...)
