Aprilia Mille Sachs Shock

I know there have been lots of discussions about rear shocks, but is the white spring Sachs Mille shock worth going for? I'm looking at one that has had the valve shaved to fit a Falco, so is ready to go. It seems OK and is likely to go for a reasonably low price.

Does it alter the ride position?

My standard one has done 25k miles now but I done have any real problems. It's lively sometimes but not so it frightens me, and I quite like a bit of spirit.

i used one for a few thousand miles before i got my uber wp one

it is very worthwhile - just make sure you set it up properly :)

ride position is unchanged as it uses the falco dog legs


Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

I have one, It's a plug and play improvement. No adjustments needed. I just set it up to the standard spec and put it in. Like you I never really had a problem with the bluey but mine was only 6000m old. The ride does feel better now, more composed through corners. I'd say do it.

I got an almost new White Spring a few years ago for £40 odd off eBay. I was told it had only done 2k or 3k miles and certainly looked totally unmarked and came in an Ohlins box, as the bloke had swapped it when almost new.
I initially set it up with with the standard Mille settings, (Can't remember off hand, think it was from an online RSV manual through one of the links on here.). The bottom mounting screws in and out, which adjusts the ride height. I still had the original Falco side stand when I fitted it, so I set the ride height a bit above that standard for the Blue spring, but not too high.
Just measure the two shocks between the mounting bolt holes.
Then unscrew the locking nut at the bottom of the Mille shock and wind it in or out until it's a few mm longer, I can't remember exactly, about 4 to 6 mm I think. It's not a bad starting point with the original sidstand. If this has been changed you can start higher, but in my case I like to do things in smallish steps, anb see how it goes.
I'm 5'9" so did nor want to go too high and seemed about right for me.
Then set the static sag, and to be honest I've left it pretty much like this. Think I may have softened it very slightly since, but only an odd click or so.
Big improvement over the standard, but obviously not as good as a new Ohlins at 10 times the price!
Been on 11k miles and still fine.
