Hi, I have some electrical trivia while away the hours...
Firstly, when I attach a battery charger it seems to reset various things like kms instead of mph and the max revs flasher (now it's down to 6000rpm).
Secondly, my bike thinks it's in neutral all the time.
Can anyone recommend a trickle charge that means I don't need to keep undoing those SEAT NUTS!!

Still awake anyone?

I have an Optimate - it's been great.
My son has a trickle charger from Aldi - as far as I can tell that is fine as well - a heck of a lot cheaper AND it does both 6V and 12V (which is handy as his old CB125 has 6V electrics)
Secondly, my bike thinks it's in neutral all the time.
Sorry I don't know a bike psychiatrist
(I guess it's the neutral sensor or, more likely, the neutral sensor wiring .... unless it doesn't actually move when you twist the throttle .... then it probably is in neutral)
I don't have to undo nuts to remove my seat - I've the quick-release fasteners. I bought them from RSVR.net but now they have shut up shop I don't know where you get them from (other than AF1 - but they charge crazy postage from USA)

I just run wires from bolt on battery connections to a loose male/female plug under the seat with a matching rubber cap. Have another matching lead on my trickle charger which is made by Ring, but also badged as Halfords and a few other labels, it's cheaper than an Optimate and works fine for me, and is easy to get at under the seat with short leads to the battery. I did not want to use an extenal plug.

Hi all,
Used the connector extension that came with my optimate it hangs in the middle of my rear exhaust hanger, so no need to lift seat off
As for the neutral, must be a wire fault somewhere, enjoy the hunt fella

My warranty is the clear/smoked tail lights around the corner!!

I have an Acumen charger too. Used the extension lead it came with and connecter sits tidily under pillion seat. Main lead fits through the side vent in the bodywork. Just remember to disconnect it before you ride out the garage.......

I have never had anything reset whilst actually attaching the charger, then again I have never tried attaching it with the ignition on.
Was yours on or off when you got the dash reset?

As luck would have it, I picked up the latest Aldi special offers flyer this lunch time and the Car/Motorbike Battery Charger will be on sale again on 8th October for the princely sum of £12.99
Bargain!
As for the optimate I use on the Falco, I have its connector positioned behind the plastic seat trim beneath the rider's seat - just by where the passenger peg bracket mounts. It's easy to fish it out and plug it in - no seat removal required.

Thanks chaps. Now I think about it, I did put jump leads on it too at one stage as the battery wasn't turning it over quick enough for it to fire one morning. That could have been it? Bought double bubble today from Skidmarx - anyone got a problem with "clear" finish

a sluggish start up will give you a dash reset every time.
