What wheels do I want?

#1 Post by ReggieGasket » Sat Sep 19, 2009 8:58 am

Time for thinking about a set of spare wheels. What wheels will fit? I have a 2000 model. I see some have got wheels off the RSV-R?

Yes the MilleR OZ wheels are really good.

However Aprilia did make their own "look alikes" that they fitted to some later bikes .... but they are heavier than the standard Brembos.

Took me a long time to acquire a set of the right ones at the right price via ebay .... and it's not always obvious which are which on ebay.

Of course, if you really want to make me jealous, get a set of BST carbon rims ...........

There's a post somewhere showing the weights of the various wheels - I'll look it up and add a link later

Here are some useful posts from the past:

They are the MGT forged aluminums.

OZ Racing Italy has stopped all motorcycle wheel production and aprilia ran out of them sometime in 06-07.

All the new Factory bikes are coming with the MGT wheels. They look identical to the OZ. The blue OZ from a new bike is not available anymore, so if you have a set of true OZs from your 04-08RSVR, 07 Tuono Factory, the only replacement is the MGT wheels.

Real OZ wheels have the OZ logo on them, and yours also say MT just like the new Tuono Factories we have on the floor.

Aprilia owns the design, so they just switched manufacturers when OZ quit making them.

1st gen OZ wheels are darker, appear painted, and are for the "old" frame bikes 98-03 Mille, 02-05 Tuono for non-radial brakes

2nd gen OZ wheels are brighter blue, anodized, for the "new" frames 04-08 RSVR, and 06-08 Tuono, and are made for the radial front brakes

So now we all know

The heavy ones on the list above are not actually OZ wheels - they are the clones

Thanks. I guess the OZ wheels are pricey? Can I assume the standard Mille wheels will fit the Falco?

Yup, The std Mille wheels are the same as the Falco wheels.

Make sure you don't get a set of the radial braked ones though as the front is different. The rears are the same for all years

Thanks. How do I know if they are radial braked ones? I guess they are quite recent?
