Well i have just realised i have left my bluetooth dongle in lincoln, so no "just bought" pics until next week.
i shall outline it a little though.
2001 model on an 02 plate. Red
19,999 miles.
generally nice condition, needs a few bolts replacing because it has lived outside at somepoint of is life.
Bar ends need replacing; they dont have much paint left on them.
The bike comes with standard cans and chip. But he also gave me some aprilia racing cans and the associated chip. need to swap the chips around as it has the apriia racing chip with the standard cans installed. (not sure how to do this - need a haynes or something)
few scratches here and there but nothing major.
just a general tidy up is needed really. nothing too drastic.
not sure whats under the tank (airbox wise) will have to investigate when i get a manual.
Overall im happy with what it is for the price i paid.
could do with finding a set of hard panniers for it though, for commuting to and from uni.
D-Rider - feel free to come round and have a nosey. Its in bedworth atm.

Only reall biggie with the chip is ensuring that you put it in the right way round. IIRC the indent is at the PIN 1 end look closely. I've heard of incorrectly chips getting fried, but I've also heard of them not. Better safe than sorry.
Be careful taking them out so as not to bend the pins too.
Have a squint at Martinpol's site it'll have a section on it I'm sure.

What FalcoPops said about the chip - the indent indicates pin number 1.
Before you swap chips, have a good close look at how the currently installed chip is sitting in the socket - then line up the new one to match.
When it comes to taking the chip out of the socket, lever gently from each end in turn with a flat-bladed screwdriver. About 1/16 (or so) of an inch at a time so that you don't bend the pins. Bent pins on the chip are bad, OK?
Oh yeah, static electricity is bad too. Try to get yourself "grounded" relative to the ECU and chip. If you're leaving the ECU connected to the bike, make sure you're touching either the ECU case (assuming that the ECU's case is both metal and grounded to the bike!) or some metal part of the bike (that's then connected to the battery).
I apologise if you know this already, but it's better safe than sorry!
Yes, I used to work on computers a long time ago, when RAM upgrades came as a swarm of little chips that had to be installed one by one into sockets. None of these fancy-pants SIMM / DIMM thingies...

Oh yes, manual - Haynes don't do one, the Mille one is the nearest they do and that covers most things but the best option is to download the official Aprilia ones from Martin Poll's website. A big download but well worth it.
The OCR version is best as it's a smaller file and searchable.

I now only have some numbers - those that it decided to store on the SIM .... yours seems to be one of those that was only on the phone.
If you could drop me a PM with your number, that would be good.
Chip swap will be no prob (remember I am an Electronics Engineer - which, before anyone comments, I realise should have alerted me to the incompatibility between phones and water ......).

Well, less than a week until i can ride tha falco. Insurance runs out on the gpz tomorrow, so i will be bikeless for 4 days or so :(
Just paid for my insurance - £369.60 with 2 years ncb. Not bad considering im still 19(although only just!)
i really cant wait any longer. its killing me!
few "first pics" below. Need to change the bar ends, put the sl carbon exhausts back on, put the front fender extender on, plus god knows what else!

Take the bar ends up to Phil @ Coventry Blast & Prep and get him to blast them clean and powder coat them for you.
Use a strap wrench to hold them still while you use an Allen key to undo them.
Oh yes, I did say I'd help you with the cans and chip - give me a shout when you want to do this.
