Acumen Digital Gear Indicator/Volt Meter DGV

Hi! all,
so far I've fitted a Digital Gear Indicator to just about every bike I've owned. This time as the batteries can be a bit dicky on the Falco, I decided to go for the DGV. It shows what gear you are in with charging voltage. When you turn the igntion off, it displays voltage in the battery for one minute before it turns off. A handy piece of kit I thought. I managed to get one from a guy on Ebay who bought it and then sold his bike before he fitted it. So it was as good as new and a really good price.
If anyone else would like to fit one, I've attached a colour code with pin numbers.
I managed to fit the DGV this evening in my garage. I have a 2004 model Aprilia Falco SL1000R and I only have a Haynes Manual for the Aprilia Mille. Haynes unfortunately don't make one for the Falco, but the engine is the same. However the wiring diagram was not. They don't specify pin numbers for the main instrument panel plug and the colours are just not the same.
I managed to get a very small diagram out of my Falco handbook and as I teach vehicle electrics to the Army, thought I'd have a go.
The wiring guide that I downloaded from Acumen website was pretty much spot on. However I did have to find a Negative in the plug and also a permanent live. But with the aid of my trusty old meter, away we went.
Just for your info the connections were as follows.
Power Neutral Speedo Tacho Negative
Red Green Orange Brown Black
Green Pin8 Brown/Pink Pin4 Grey/White Pin6 Grey/Violet P12 Blue/Green Pin15
Unfortunately I can't remember which pin I got my permanent live from for the purple, but there is only one live pin in the plug. Obviously you have to reconnect the battery to check for the live. And there seemed to be two or three negatives to choose from. I just picked one with the least resistance.
You will need a meter to test for the Negative and permanent live or a test lamp. I use both and these are very inexpensive these days.
Hope this helps
Ade
