Hi all, after watching my pride and joy falco falling on to its side i've realized i do need to sort out the side stand, is there one you can buy straight out without modifying, or is it a chop and change job, falco wasn't damaged, it landed on a grass verge! but seriously aprilia can build a cracking bike, but cant design a sidestand!!!!

... unless you live in the USA and you get the perfectly acceptable US market sidestand.
The only completely no-work solution is the "new design" stand that someone flogs on ebay.
Good reports of this are mixed with one or two of poor welding.
US Market stand requires the US Market bracket to be modified.
Firestorm and Gixer stands require work - particularlu if you want to retain the sidestand switch (though I do remember one of the Honda stands has a switch that is plu-in compatible.
Do a search - there are loads of threads on here discussing the various merits.
I've had the Gixer stand fitted for a long time - it really sorts the problem.

...mine has fallen over thrice since I bought it. Admittedly one of those times was stand foot sinking into melting tarmac, another was very strong wind. Technically, it's only thrown itself down in a dodgy stand fit once. I've not bothered altering the stand but I am SOOPER careful about where and how I park it, particularly if its windy. I usually park in gear, preferably with a kerb or something in front of the thing.

Hi, I bought one of the e-bay ones. Fitted in 10 mins, no bother at all. Very well made & I now pop it on it's sidestand and worry no more. Well worth the money. The guys e-mail is:

I've got an original spec UK stand and never had a problem - including four ferry trips with the bike ratchet strapped to the hilt.
Must be lucky as a lucky thing.

I have one of the first ones advertised on eBay, and it's been absolutely fine, no problems at all and a doddle to fit!

... Should get its creator to do a little web-chat sales pitch thingy on this thread (and sweet talk him into doing a ridersite member discount - sorry, there must be some scotsman in my kiwi-ness

)

tried that and i think you have more chance of giving the pope a blow job
tbh, unless you can get an american side stand, the bubsywoo ebay one is the only really simple plug and play solution - bar possibly the fireblade one
me, for peace of mind, would say just spend the money

I bought the e bay one as well but found on my fast Bronze `55 reg the bike was almost upright and would easily fall over onto the right side, nicely matching the damage done when the bike fell over on its left side

Gary did however sort me out one an inch shorter. Yes they fit perfectly in 10 mins.
One inch shorter
original as delivered from e bay note nearly vertical.

I think I have the first e bay one as in photo one, yours for 25 quid +postage PM me if interested.

LOL - love the picture of the standard stand .... with the bike on its side.
Somehow the world seems to have fallen over too - which spoils the effect a bit.
