Went for right good 90 mile scratch with my mate, spent a couple of hours taking him out onto some new roads he's not done before and had a great afternoon, so when we got home, hot & tired, I went to the offy on the bike for a few cold ones - 3 cans will go under the seat by the way....
When I came out of the shop, some guy was going hey mate, hey mate - I thought he was gonna say, thats nice, or something, but he hands me a piece of paper saying, "that woman just hit your bike..." He took the reg, somehow, the bike stayed up but she nudged it 6 inches backwards, bending the front edge of the mudguard up and also bending the sidestand forwards as the bike was pushed backwards. There was a 5-6 inch scrape into the tarmac, I'm amazed it stayed upright to br honest. Got to go through th hassle of going to the police tomorrow as when I phoned, they said the local cop shop had just shut. I walked past her on my way in and had pulled up behind her but left about 3 foot as it was. She was busy drinking a can of Diet Coke as she got out and when she came back out of the shop. Probably a good job I didn't witness it, I would have gone mental! Going to make sure I get a good claim in now....

Hi all,
I concur with Aladins, the friggin biatch should be done, typical! I nearly got side-swiped yesterday. In the inside lane on a dual going back into town, cop car behind me. Doing 30mph, as you do, a young girl in a fiesta slowly over-took me, then instantly, friggin indicated at the same time she crossed into my lane
I luckily looked at her wheels and braked hard! Blew my nice loud horn and gestured in her general direction. Didn't even bad an eyelid.....
I pulled off and plod latched onto her tail... hope he pulled the griggin ignorant so and so

Well, I went to the Police station yesterday morning to follow up my call to them after the incident.
Should be dealt with through the week, not sure when i should tell my insurance company - need to find my local Aprilia dealer (i'm near Dover) for a quote on the work.
I'm worried, the stand seems to be at an ever more wary angle - I'll post a pic later, just hoping it's not damaged the frame...!

Well lets hope she is insured and registered!

2 wrongs don't make a right, btw its a bike not flesh and blood.
Also I presume you've parked it like a car (parallel to the kerb) so that begs the question could it be seen in her rear view mirror and if not then cos its a very narrow bike it could well be missed by her wing mirrors..
Yes it might well be her fault but I don't like to see people stitch others up cos they feel like it

apologies peter, but wing mirrors my arse - what about the big one in the middle of her windscreen?
and i also assume she must have walked up to her parked car so may have seen a rather large bike behind it?
and finally - i do like to give people the benefit of the doubt, but if she drove off with out stopping, then the inference is that she did not even stop - did she even know what she had done?
two wrongs may not make a right - but, chap was lucky, it seems, with the damage caused - could have been a lot worse - and only good news is that it is totally 100 percent her insurance - not his

Right, I pulled up "behind" her car, leaving about a 3 - 4 ft gap between my bike and her back end. As I pulled up, turned off and took my gloves off, she, struggled her fat ass up out of her car, drinking a can of Diet Coke and made eye contact with me and obviously saw I was wearing a crash helmet as I was sat on my bike.
The bike was diagonal with my rear wheel nearer the kerb than the front and leant in towards the kerb on the side stand.
My witness who lived next to the back of her car said he could tell she knew she'd done it as she looked around a fair bit before driving off. MAYBE, she thought it was OK because it was still stood up, but I know she didn't get out to check - I was only in the shop 1 - 2 mins grabbing a few cans and paying by card. The bike was shunted bakwards 6 inches for god's sake.
I know 2 wrongs don't make a right - and judging by the price of a mudguard now I've checked - £180 to those who didn't know, I think it will be expensive just to have the bike put right. I could probably live with the mudguard, if she'd had the decency to stop and apologise and offer to give me some details etc, but she didn't, so therefore I am going to make her pay for her ignorance and disregard for my property. I am more worried about the angle my bike is leaning over at, as if they aren't worrying in the first place. It might just be the stand plate, but if not, I'd say the frame could be twisted where the bolts go into it, that'll be written off then!
Yes, hoping she's insured now, but it was an 03 plate car, so you'd think it's be insured, not like some of the beaten up crap driven around here...

Jayboy - I think it's unlikely that your frame is bent. The flimsy sidestand will probably bend in half before the more robust frame bends.

Well me too, but the leg is straight but cocked out at a weird f'ing angle!
Admittedly, I covered the bike up after phoning the old bill and haven't wanted to look again since. I might take a peek and take a snap or 2 for 2nd opinions later on...

Yes, do that. One of the mounting bolts might have ripped out which means re-tapping the thread. Or the sidestand bracket is bent where the sidestand leg attaches. Im quite keen to see this now

I'd second that and in the one clearer image it looks like there is the start of a crack......
So I'd have that off to look and probably replace PDQ.
