I do like the idea of the single-side swingarms - hell I was dreaming for years of putting one on my Honda (would look ace on the 'fighter!). Just never had the time or money to get around to it.

Putting a SSS on a Falco would be an interesting mod, I have to say. Just not for me right now.

Looking at the auction, it's marked as "Ended early due to 'Buy it now' being selected" or something like that.

Ah someone bought it. I was secretly thinking about it but time and motivation for mods is low at the moment.

Sorry to be a dissenting voice, but I think a SSA is a retrograde step, engineering wise. They inevitably weigh more, are less rigid and suffer from twisting forces that don't occur on a conventional arm. I appreciate that styling is a personal thing, but I'm not even impressed with the looks. The only benefit they have that I can see is easier rear wheel changes.

I owned one of the original VFR750s with the standard arm and after 6 years and 75,000 miles decided to chop it in for the later NR-styled VFR750 with SSA. I was definitely aware of the extra weight working away at the back end. My old VFR had a quoted dry weight of 203kg. When Honda switched to the SSA model this immediately jumped to 216kg; a large portion of which was accounted for by the extra weight of the SSA and the extra frame bracing needed around the swingarm pivot.

Putting a SSA on a frame which was not designed for it is a poor idea, IMHO.

I've never been one to compromise function for style so I'm with mango on this one.

I guess the thing is, it's a challenge and the result is fairly unique.
That's enough for some.

I did think about it a while back but with the speed sensor issues, the extra weight and the fact that the fut fut wheel looks so 1980s, decided that the mille swinger was the better option.

A guy from Nuneaton (ClubAprilia and AF1 member) has just put one on a new shape RSVR and has done a nice job (the paint job on the wheels helps a lot). He's still working on a solution for the speedo ......

Collected aforementioned swinging arm today.

Imagine my shock, horror and dismay when I discovered that a vgc rear wheel, hub assembly, disc, caliper, sprocket, chain & a decent Diablo Strada were also included. :smt109

I'm going to keep it all and polish it and gloat over my hoard . . . my precious!

Definitely worth an extra fill of pipe-weed.
