If it is the clutch fluid that disappears...it should be no 26 here, right?



Is the seal a normal o-ring that one could buy locally? I don't think so if it looks like this: But fekk me if I pay that much for a rubbery ring.

Has anyone came up with cheaper replacements?

And the last one... would this 2004(!) fit? I could use longer hose.

Yeah, the Tuono one should fit no problem, but you don't know the condition of the seal, so you could be in the same boat before long.

I have just fitted the EVO replacement (£150 ) for the same reason, I'm now debating whether to replace the seal in the old one to keep as a spare, or even to sell on.

The seal on the original seems to fail every 2 years, so I said 'Feckit' and coughed up the wonga.

I noticed my fluid level falling and a small deposit on the garage floor beside the side stand, so I ordered a new seal from the local Aprilia dealer. I think it was around £11. However, while waiting for it to arrive, the leak miraculously disappeared, so it's in my spares box ready for a recurrence.

Keep meaning to get one to refurb my aprilia slave to keep as backup.
I've fitted an MPL but I've heard that these aren't user serviceable and have to go back to MPL if you need anything doing to them - so a spare would be wise ....

Before I removed the original, I sucked the old fluid out (big syringe on the banjo thing). As well as being very dark I noticed quite a lot of orangey brown gunge in the fluid.
Now the fluid was last changed 2 years ago when they replaced the whole unit under warranty (2 days left ) so I was surprised by the state of it.

You can always ask a dealer to get one for you and then you don't pay delivery charges. That's what I did today, and a gasket will be waiting for me when I visit the UK. In the meantime... top-up therapy.

Sharking ! Had the same issue last year, swapped the seal and still had leak. Check grooving of cylinder, the seal may not be the problem. Black fluid is an Aprilia quirk, but the whole cyl may need replacing. Which brings me neatly on to......... yeah, I got a spare one

The bike only covered 12k kms so there should be no damage to hard parts yet. I hope.

My mates Futura has just blown its slave cylinder seal.
He works for a hydraulics company and is currently sourcing a replacement.
He reckons he will be hard done by if he has to pay more than £2 for a new one!
I'll post the results of his search as and when.

Any chance he could find some replacements for the almost unobtainable Brembo calliper seals?
I know Mango did find a source but they are still going to be comparatively expensive.

C'mon! Are we there yet?

He's got one but he's miffed 'cos it was nearer £3.

He's going to email me the details of the supplier, seal reference number etc. and I'll post them when he does.

Following on from what Andy said - if he could source some alternatives to the Brembo brake seals that would be very helpful. Seals are available from KTM stockists when you know the equivalent KTM part number, but I've just been advised that there is a potential class action lawsuit against KTM brewing in respect of Brembo brakes fitted to some models that may conceivably see this avenue of spares closed off to us.

It may all just be a lot of hot air (it was reported in MCN this week, after all), but I'd definitely like to have a 'Plan B' available...
