yellow or white ?

Was thinking of changing my Sachs white spring mille shock for the newer Sachs yellow spring RSV/Tuono shock ..... is it worth doing ?

If you are broadly happy with your shock then why not get it serviced and set up by a pro? If you are unhappy with the sock then yes change it as I believe the yellow is better.
I would price up both options and be realistic about my own skill!


Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

i have just put on a yellow spring, but it was replacing a blue spring with 22`000 miles on it, so not a good comparison.
the difference for me was quite noticable.
i would think it would depend on there age and condition, but the yellow spring is newer so should be an inprovement.

Well, I've never used either of these shocks .... all I can say is that Aprilia seemed to think it was worth making the change from the white one to the yellow one.

..... now whether the benefit was performance improvement or it was done for economic reasons, I really don't know.
I'm guessing for performance - but it's only a guess.

I briefly used a white spring shock and it was better than the stock one.
But I then put in a wp shock and had it all set up by Mc technics .
I think that the wp is overkill as I do not have much skill. The set up though is spot on - friends who have ridden my falco all race about how well planted and balanced the bike is
I guess I am saying get the bike set up and shock may be serviced as that may well be a good investment for this year - the white spring you have is at least 5 years old

I have changed from a nearly new blue to a nearly new yellow with corresponding linkages. The difference was more then obvious, even for me, a weekend warrior. ;)

I would skip the white shock as the servicing may be PITA due to their age. And it may be hard to get a decent example for the same reason.

I think ill stick with the white spring for the moment.
Theres loads yellow sachs on ebay at the moment..very reasonably priced as well :-)

Im getting itchy fingers again...need to change something on the Falco..got a mille bellypan on the way, which im going to cut down to fit. Ill post some photos of this .. it may work, it may not !
The bottom of the bike looks quite bare now thats it got no fairings.

If you're in no rush, then just keep your eyes open for a MilleR Ohlins (with linkages) to come along at the right price. If you are prepared to wait something usually comes along eventually.
BTW we're talking the Ohlins from the old shape MilleR - not the 2004 onwards RSVR.

As for the mille bellypan - it doesn't mate with the Falco sidepanels - there's a significant gap.
Schlosser and Tombaa have solved the problem of making this work by combining Falco and Mille sidepoanels and I've got all the bits now to do the same thing .... watch this space ....

I dont have any front/side fairings on my Falco anymore (just a ktm nosecone).
Im just needng a bellypan to make the bike look a wee bit more complete.

Got the belly pan today !! its off a 2001 mille i think (single sided exhaust).
Had a look at it and offered it up to the bike ... dont think its going to be as easy as i thought
