Certificate of Conformity

Good morning all - and Happy New Year to all as well....

Just sorting all my stuff out for registering the bike in France and I seem to be missing the Certificate of Conformity for the bike. Anyone got a spare one, or who can copy or point me towards an on-line copy?

Couldn't resist pushing the starter button yesterday and it started first time.... maybe this afternoon..... hey why not?

Don't think we have those. Aren't they what Aprilia (or the dealer?) use when the first register a bike?

Hopefully someone will prove me wrong.

If its anything similar to my imported GSXR, Aprilia should be able to provide you this certificate for about £70

Sorry, I may be wrong, but when I looked in my car documentation, that had one in it, so I thought the bike might as well... OK off to Aprilia.com then.

Hi Falcomille,

I recently had a long (online) char with Olivier, a French-born Falco owner, on the AF1 site and his views may not make happy reading for you. We basically hi-jacked a thread, and the interesting stuff starts at around post #24...

http://www.apriliaforum.com/forums/show ... 662&page=2

Olivier states that deristricted Falcos like ours are banned (i.e. ineligible) in France due them producing more than 106bhp. Personally if you're in France with your Falco I'd give it a go and see what happens, but be aware there may be problems. Knowing France, I suspect it will boil down to who you get to perform the inspection etc. , how good your French is and what mood they're in...

Hope this helps...

Maybe reconnect the restrictor wire on the ECU which should allow you to get it dyno'd at 85bhp and avoid the potential problems the BHP cap presents.

Hi mango - thanks for that little snippet. Ouch, that looks like it might require a complete re-think. I'll have to speak with my neighbour and see if he can get any info out of the local Aprilia dealers. I have seen a Falco here, a really scruffy one from Toulouse on 31 plates, (red as well - sorry), so he managed to get one though the system, but litre sports bikes here are pretty rare, and the one's I've seen aren't restricted now.

I have managed to get out for an hour today and this thing is just SOOO adictive, so I don't want to part with it - equally, I don't necessarily want to ride back for an MOT every year. Bugger - what a predicament.

Just looking at Aprilia's Official French site, and at the spec of the RSVR in particular, it shows the max power at 106.8 cv, which I think translates to 106.8 bhp. If so, does that mean the Falco motor comes in under that? What is the standard official power of the Falco motor - is it 106? Perhaps Aprilia are shoving Falco motors into new RSVR's for France? Hmm. :smt017

My guess is that's with the airbox bung in place and the ecu wire un-snipped.
Reinstating to that level should not be a problem.

Oooh - wonder how necessary standard cans might be (hopefully not very important)

FM, when you do eventually get it registered, can you do a write up on the trials and tribulations of registering a big derestricted Aprilia in France, please? May be useful for others to know the positives and negatives of the ordeal

I will certainly be following your progress with avid interest. Falco + French roads = FUN!

If it was me I'd take advice and then give it a try anyway. If you don't ask, you don't get...

Olivier was saying that the 'official' power limit on bikes in France is 78kw, which (apparently) translates as 106bhp. Does the Aprilia site give power in Kw?

Perhaps I should look myself... Ahem.

Just checked and quoted power output of the RSV-R is indeed 78kw. Now - are Aprilia just 'under-reporting' the power of the RSV-R or has it been nobbled? I'm pretty sure that re-fitting the inlet bung and reconnecting the snipped wire should comfortably get the power below 106 bhp, as others have said

If ite helps, my first Falco had the Certificate of Conformity as it was originally registered in Gurnsey. The de-restriction mods moved it to where it should be so I guess reinstatement should sort you out...

not much help, but my Falco is a german one.. my registration papers (the german one) says 98 BHP restricted. I also have a german registration paper after the de-restriction 118 BHP. Will have a look in my papers to see if the conform papers are there.
