Ohlins Shock

Just won an Ohlins shock on fleebay. £204 and freshly serviced (reckon that's about £100 I don't have to spend).

Not sure which version although it's taken of a 01/02 race bike so It may drop straight in.

Question - is it simply a case of checking the distance between the fixing points? I know you then get into fine tuning the static sag, ride height, compression etc etc.

mangocrazy - I've tried but can't do it without taking you to my ebay log on. If you search completed listings for Aprilia Shock you'll see it. The seller is german and he spelled Ohlins with the german " above the letter O so I didn't see it at first on my normal search criteria. I was the only bidder.

Hope it's genuine.

Hi,

So I guess this is the one, then?

Looks lovely.

However if you're going to fit it to a Falco you will also want the dogbone and linkages from an RSV of similar vintage, or so I've been told...

320mm length sounds about right - let me just check on the spec sheet I got with the Ohlins I scored off fleabay a couple of months ago...

Yup - mine is 321mm total length (+ 6 on the ride height adjuster), but it's the slightly later shock. Earlier ones were 320mm. Mine's an AP841(0); I suspect yours will be an AP840(0).

Here's a link to the Ohlins page for your shock:

Yours may not have the hydraulic preload adjuster, but I think everything else should be right.

Yes Dave, it says it's from an '02 bike so you will need the linkage that goes with it.
(might be able to help you out there - got the dogbone but the triangles are a bit knackered. Got a mate who works at a laser cutters who can knock me some up from stainless - I'll see him on Friday at the local forum christmas bash - anyone's guess if we'll remember what the triangles are for by the end of the night though)
