...put a Mille engine in a Falco?

Just curious (now got both and am thinking of ways to get all the best bits in one package)

I think that a couple of people have done this. I don't recall the details, but they had to graft the Mille electrics into the Falco loom somehow.

The relevant posts should be hiding somewhere in either the ARS archive or "over there in the Yank forum".

Sorry I can't be of more use, the coffee hasn't started working yet.

I seem to remember it was quite a bit more complicated than you might first think.

But seriously, If I can ever get hold of him, Jorge (Renegade) has done this ISTR.. I know he's put a Falco Lump into a Mille and Im sure vice versa

Is it not the later Factory into a Falco that would be the problem? The Falco and Mille are basically the same engine lump are they not, albeit the Falco down on power?

Yep been done.

The old shape mille engine just drops in. The early ones had the same engine - the later ones had bigger valves - but no issues in fitting.

The new shape RSVR engine physically drops in but the issue is the CAN based electrics.
The chap that posted up on here about that mod was Garrywales
He solved it by retaining all the old electrics.

Some Ohlins forks and yokes on fleebay at the moment - around the £900 mark I think.

They're not the ones I'm going for - so if anyone has that much cash burning a hole in their pocket, please go for them.

Are the Öhlins forks really that much better than a properly sorted set of Showas? Or is it just the Bling factor?

I've seen a couple of pairs for sale at a good price, but the repairs I've needed for my Fazer have taken a sizable chunk out of my bike bits fund

Dunno - never used Ohlins forks and never used Showa forks.
Actually, I've never really felt a problem with the Marzocchis - so it's not like the rear shock which was obviously crap.

Those that have fitted the Ohlins and had them set up seem to rate them very highly .... and what have I got to loose - probably a far better investment than the stock market or the property market at this time!

Had my front end sorted by Mc technics with new cartridges etc. A lot cheaper and keep my obligatory stealth black colour!
I did have the ption of ohlins forks and radial brakes a couple of months ago for 500 quid but my wife caught me!

Yes - had considered the forks rework option but I believe it is not so easy with the Marzocchis and, consequently, more expensive (than doing the Showas)
The Ohlins seem to be the best way for me - and there's added bling factor too
I've managed to keep the mrs well and truly uninformed or this would be a non-starter .........

BTW All disk brakes are radial by their very nature - all that is different is a revised mounting that might be a little stiffer ... but does it really make much difference .... on the road ....

Ive got radial ohlins on mine with the matching Brembos (not the mono-block, the earlier version). I have to be honest and say I was chasing the bling and that I cannot feel a difference... even after having the forks serviced and setup for me.

I did also at the same time change to Oz wheels and that I can definately feel. That and the braking has so much more feel!
