Ok.. I know I am opening myself up to flaming and being called a squid etc... but hear me out:

I do believe in this stuff since it made me more secure on the bike. I know a common critisism is that racers dont use them but I have seen grip tape on race/track bikes which is similar but not as ugly although it does wear out leathers over time. Some of the top racers use this grip tape. Im not saying Im a top rider, im mildly average at best, but it does at least hint that there is a benefit.

I did a piss-poor job of putting the Stompgrip on my Falco and after a few months it was peeling off, so I pulled it all off. Now I am not exagerrating when I say I can barely ride the bike anymore. I like to keep myself locked in with my knees/upper legs and without the Stompgrip I slide all over the tank. The main problem is sliding forward under braking and when hitting bumps but I generally struggle to get locked in and I end up putting too much weight through my arms and shoulders.

So, either I am a shocking rider, or my textiles are too smooth (not tried it yet with leathers) or my suspension is just badly setup?

Textiles? No grip what so ever with them, it will feel loads better in leathers.

My leathers grip the tank a little too well, the sides of my tank are getting all scuffed from my leathers and was considering something like this stompgrip to cover the tank to stop further damage but it doesn't look overly attractive IMO.

It does work, protects the tank and stops all that slipping and sliding ooer

I just treated my leathers with some leather protective stuff...and I'm sliding back and forth and side to side...No fun for me until I sort it out.

If all else fails, there's always industrial strength velcro ....

No squid comments from me - I've never had any problems with sliding about until I bought my first set of leathers at the beginning of the year, then every little bump slid me around like I was covered in oil. Hit a bump while banked over on a round-about, and it kicked me enough that I rolled on the throttle slightly - not enough to cause a big problem, but enough that it stood the bike up straight, and I had to take, ahem, "corrective" action. Seems to be better now - either the leathers are less shiny, or I've adapted - see what it's like after a winter in textiles.

Whatever works for you, go with it. Sounds like some more Stompgrip will be on order shortly?

Syltiz, you mention you had stompgrip on your Falco, did you get a universal one as I don't see a Falco specific model?

I got the universal, I'll take a photo tonight and post it

Yes, I used the universal. But dont do what I did and wrap the excess at the bottom around the underside of the tank because thats where it peeled from. Just cut the bottom row or 2 of nipples off.

Yeah... im going to have to order some more. I ride in textiles most of the time so its got to be done

Cheers Viffer, I'll be interested to see what it looks like. I primarily want it to protect the sides of my tank. I don't like those little black dots and strips that you can get with some tank pads for that purpose, think they look daft.

Here y' go Big Al as promised, I think they look great in the flesh so to speak and do a good job of protecting the tank and stopping slidey moments.

I fitted mine within the lines of the tank so to speak, so basically lower down. You can see at the bottom its already starting to peel off and this was in June.

Nah Syltiz I can see your problem............................The tanks the wrong colour
