my brake lever has about an inch missing and still passed the MOT as there is plenty to grab. A genuine aptilia one is £51...is there a good generic match to the existing standard clutch lever at less cost?
cheers
Pete

These are the same as Ducati use on their bikes that use the same Brembo brakes .... but Ducati ones are cheaper.
There are aftermarket ones on ebay but I remember Pierre had trouble with one of them as it kept sticking !!
Do a
search on here and you'll probably find some info telling you which ones to avoid.

I'll second that - just got a genuine clutch lever, because the pivot points on the cheapy ebay job were very loose - didn't trust it.
Whatever you get, try and get the brass pin with it - managed to change it last time to the cheapy job from the original, but the new one I got didn't have the little grub screw to lock it in place. Couldn't get the old one out - so just as well it came with the rest of it, otherwise I'd never have got it swapped over!

Couldn't convince myself to trust eBay copies...Got Aprilia genuine. It's brakes for Christ sake. The way I ride the thing, if I discover I have no front brake, I'm dead (if I'm lucky).

I bought some of the ebay ones but they snapped when I was trying to install them - very weak indeed. I sent them back and got a refund.
I was buggered if I was going to pay 50 for a lever from aprilia so I took my original broken one into the Ducati dealer in Bristol. The guy pulled out a huge box of mixed brembo levers - I matched mine up against them, found the right lever and he charged me something like 25 or 30 quid. Bargain.

I got a cheapo from ebay but fixed all the non broken parts from the original onto it. Just got to keep it polished

Im tempted to do this and transfer the decent bits but worried about the integrity/quality of a 'cheap' lever under stress.

The genuine Brembo I got from Ducati was the same price as the ebay 'cheap' copy pairs. Pop down to your nearest Ducati dealer and see what they have to say.

Always makes me laugh.. A mate paid thru the nose for his 748, since then he's spent a lot of time repairing it.. slave cylinders, clutches, etc etc all of which he comments on how cheap he got the parts for.. like he was surprised...??!
One day maybe he will realise ...
