Did my first serious bit of touring last week. Just short of 2000 miles and the falco was faultless. Saw only two other Prillas all week, one Shiver and one RSVR. The Falco attracted interest whenever we stopped - the other two were on BMWs.

We left Hull Friday tea time and arrived Zebrugge Saturday morning. First day was the longest - 430 miles through Belgium, Luxemburg Germany (and a bit of France). Mostly motorway until the last hour two hours which took us through the beautiful Black Forest.

Next day into Austria - stayed at Lofer near Salzburg. Weather was really poor - Snowing on the Grossglockner Pass. We stayed an extra day in the hope that the weather would break and we were not dissappointed. Onwards then back into Germany to Floss just on the Czech border. Next day was over into Bavaria (the forest just go on forever) to Simmerath via the Nurburgring. Saw some mad Range Rover drivers going round bends on three wheels ! :smt004.

Then a short hop to Brugge (very pretty city) before picking up the ferry on the friday tea time.

Anyway here are some pics - probably similar to other people's who have done much the same thing - Nooj and Goldie will recognise the Pass.

Bloody Sat Nav - this track was very steep and justdissappeared into the mountain side - much piss taking of the BMW rider. :smt013

Nice pics Dave - sounds like you had a good time.

2000 miles round Europe on a blue spring ..... that's commitment.

Ha ha - the purpose of the trip was to wear out the spring so I could justify spending some more money on a replacement - I let my white spring go to Ben.

It's the Grossglockner pass just south of Salzburg. Absolutely awesome. There are loads of web pics and videos on the net... just search.

We didn't do that pass, not sure which one we wanted to get onto, or if it was that one, but we got turned back by a nice Austrian Policewoman because the road was snowed in.

Looks like you had a good time of it, wish I could afford to sod off abroad on the bike for a few weeks again. It's definitely one of the best things you can do.

Agreed. Point well made! It's nice to have something wholesome and fulfilling to warm your hands at the end of a ride. In the case of the above that would probably be the engine block :smt047
