I have been a falco bore since I got mine 3 weeks, well so the wife tells me. I keep trying to convince her that the Falco is so much better than my 600 Fazer that I really had no choice but to upgrade to the Aprilia. Well Ben Wilkins in this month's ride magazine has helped my case with his piece on his own falco. (p124-125) He's had it from new and after extolling its virtues he concludes by saying " .. there's nothing on the market at the moment that offers the same mix of emotive riding experience and practicality that I'd swap it for."
Don't suppose there will much disagreement with that around here? Now if I could only get my wife to be as understanding and allow me to keep the Falco in the kitchen!

thats where the wife should be, making food while you sit in the lounge polishing the falco.... I would have said the bedroom, but only a pervo bronze rider would do that.....

Yeah - Ben's a forum member and posts on here (rather infrequently).
Always does a good job of "bigging up" the Falco in RiDE.

Ben's always said the same - he is a member on here, (BenWah), but does not get the time to post too often, was also on the previous Aprilia Riders site. Has said many times, he'll never get rid, and he got one of the first ones, so probably had his 8 years now!
Very sensible bloke really!
Means something when people like Ben, and also people like Mike Armitage and John Westlake from "Bike" who get to ride all the new sports bikes rate the Falco so highly. I still like John John Westlake's comments from July Bike P81 -
"..... the Falco fell between three stools. If you wanted sporty, you went RSV Mille. If you wanted toury, you went Triumph Sprint. If you wanted all roundy, you went VFR 800. Which means the "unloved" Falco a genuine bargain for those of us fed up with aching wrists, but not prepared to be left behind. It's a gentleman's sportsbike, a hardcore sports tourer, a connoisseur's motorcycle, and if one was waiting for me behind the garaged door I'd be chuffed to bits".
I've had one behind my garage door for almost 4 years and I'm still chuffed to bits every time I ride it. Like Ben's, mine will not be sold whilst I can still ride it.

Thought most of us on here were Falco bores.

Seems we just can't stop talking and posting about how good they are.

Falco, the perfect road bike?? Could well be.

It could well be for most, it was a little on the small side for me if I wanted to do 300 miles in one go and it punished my wrists at anything under 60mph.

I'll have to prod my son to get him to do a writeup on what he thinks of it

It'd be interesting to have a go on a stock one again to see what they feel like. Most of my mods have been small changes accumulated over time, so I've no idea how different they all feel together compared to a standard bike.

I was sitting in ProBike on Saturday flicking through an old Bike mag and there it was, this artical. Interesting read, but yeah, some of the 'facts' were well off the mark Deffo made the right choice when I was initially looking at buying an SV1000 though

We did lots of 300 mile days on our euro tours and one @ 550 no probs really comfortable.
probably one of the most comforatable bikes i,ve ever owned.
Didn,t spend much time below 60mph though , and tank bag to lean against helped.
