Cunning plan

The bike is off to the dealer to try and figure out the problems I've been having with it recently and before I drop it off I just had a cunning thought!
The Falco has an electronic dash as you all know which has a Vmax function that stores the bikes top speed since reset. Obviously Mine has malfunctioned because it reads a completely illegal speed which I could not have obtained on the public road since I always keep to the posted speed limit.
Anyways, we all know what goes on at these dealers so I figured it'll be interesting to reset this figure as I drop the bike off and see what it reads when I get the bike back. The mechanic may be savvy to this and reset it but it might be interesting to see what speed they reach whilst diagnosing /road testing the bike

good idea, take the mileage to and you can work out his average speed, and just wait till the speeding ticket come in

Can't you just read the average speed off the dash like you can the max.?

grrrr i hate that when customers reset there trip meters to zero to see if i've used there car when it's in for repair, or tipex the wheel nuts to see if i've removed the wheels. mistrust or what.

fair point, but I know a mille owner who had his bike serviced every 6 months and was always billed for new spark plugs, and they were a few quid each time
after the 5th service at maxcough he could not get it in there for the sixth service before he had a big trip.
He took it elsewhere and was surprised when the mechanic handed him the original aprilia branded plugs after the service.....

The issue of trust for me is simple, I don't trust anynoe unless they've earn't it. The number of times I've been ripped off (including attempts) it's no wonder i feel this way. I don't know the mechanics (never met them) at this dealership, they may well be very professional and treat the customers property with the utmost respect but i've met the other kind which is why i generally expect the worst :-(
To be fair, i'm only doing this for a bit of fun. I don't care what speed they achieve, as long as they find and fix the problem. I don't imagine they can thrash it anymore than i do on a regular basis. Bikes are made to be thrashed

AL just a quick thought on you original comment about the VMAX speed.
If you have been having trouble with the dash resetting, are you sure your VMAX speed is not showing in Klicks. It reverts back to KPH after a dash reset, will auto change back when you change the normal speed setting to MPH.
Then again, it does looks really cool when you show people the VMAX and it is showing 200 plus.
Who needs a ZZR14 or a new Busa.

Oh no, the naughty speed was in mph. Never had a dash reset problem.

I reckon they're really loving (or hating) my bike right now as they've had it since last Thursday and still haven't figured out the problem

Well I got the bike back and.........
They did about 60 miles with a top speed of 131 mph!
Any speeding tickets and I'll be pointing in their direction. That is of course unless the dealers have a rolling road / dyno?
