Difference between 2 Falcos i have owned

I had a 1999 Falco, fitted with renegade chip / airkit , leo vinci cans. I them had a small mishap on the bike and wrote it off, I removed all the the parts and have since fitted them to a 2001 Falco I bought.

The later bike seems to have more power low down to mid range than the older bike, but seems a little down on power right at the top end. It could just be me though.

Were there any engine changes between the 2 years. I read about the airboot, but mine is the early style (the larger one)

I may have a go at balancing the TB's, do you think this could be it?

My only other thought is if the chip activates the CO pots and the previous bike could have had these adjusted as I bought it modified.

Thanks

Gav

Ps: Its great to be back on a Falco again.

Ah, everybody knows that 2001 Falcos are the most powerful :smt003

I have no idea why there would be a difference but I have to say that the increases in power in the low and midrange would be preferable for me every time.

Didn't they make changes to the airbox intakes / snorkel things about that time?

Differences can be down to how they were run in and what was fitted when they were run in.

my pet theory is that some of the early falcos did actually have mille engines in

I could bore people with why, but I like it as a theory

The later falco did get changes to reduce the power lose from fitting a cat the later engine was nearer the mille spec. I was told by an aprilia guy the valves are larger and the compression ratio a little higher. I don't know if the falco mille engine was fitted with the new designed cylinder heads with one spark plug per cylinder head but the engines otherwise are essentially the same with just small detail improvements such as a bigger oil filter etc.
