Renegade Side Stand Tilter

#1 Post by Big_AL » Wed Apr 23, 2008 9:39 pm

Anyone tried one? Any good? I tried fitting a fireblade sidestand to my Falco and although it seems more secure than the original one the bike sits far too upright for my liking so thought one of these tilters may be just what i'm after.

Still uses the standard sidestand that's made of cheese.
Doesn't make the stand any longer.

Better than standard (probably) but not as good as fitting US market Falco sidestand, modified Gixer sidestand or modified VTR sidestand.

I've got the Gixer stand mod and am more than pleased with it.

I have the VTR conversion, upgraded from the 'perkys tilter' which is now surplus to requirements :smt002 ....same as the renegade I presume. I lot better then stock and good if you are not cool with the tools, but still not a patch on the various other mods out there.

al - you do mean you have fitted a firestorm stand, not a fireblade stand don't ya?

I have the firestorm one fitted and all is fine

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

No, the stand i fitted is off a blade. I took a chance to see if it would fit, and it's a bit long, hence the bike sits too upright. I need a tilty thingy :(

exupmonkey, wanna sell me your tilty thingy :smt023 ???

I used a perky's titler with my o/e stand for a while and it is much better. Some gorilla on the ferry back from Ireland bent the stand when he ratchetted the bike down.

I then used a GSXR stand with the tilter and it was so far over and the stand so far out that it would have stood up in a force 10. The tilter got cracked on the boat on the way to Oz so now I'm back to the original tilter plate.

Bike is a bit more upright but the stand is a long way out, guess I'm used to the tilter and gixxer stand.

So I guess what I'm saying is, try the tilter if you can get one, if you're happy (and it would be difficult to not improve on stock) fine. If not then try an alternative stand and you've got the tilters to fine tune things.

It's now been on about 4 1/2 years and still no problems.
