Thinking about doing an oil change at some point, and want to do it properly and clean out the engine oil filter which means i'll have to remove the clic clamp that holds on the hose. Question: do i get special tool and replace clic clamp with another clic clamp or can I just use a regular jubilee clip / worm drive jobbie instead? What do you guys do?

Think I read somewhere that Aprilia tell you that you must use click clamps .... but that wouldn't stop me from using a Jubilee clip as I've not got any of the others or the right tool

Aprilia is ambiguous on this. There is certainly aomething written in their manuals that says you must use the proper "click Clamps", but in another Aprilia manual I says you can use jubilee type clamps.

Anyhoo, I and many others have used jubilee clips, with no ill effects.

When mine was serviced a while back the stealer reused the o/e clips and they were in a shocking state (still working, but not confidence inspiring). Use jubilee ones and that problem goes.

When I changed the radiator I was just really careful with removal of the original clip and I managed to fit it right back (looks and feels good as new). I've noticed during long years of research :) that jubilee clips (especially lower quality ones) have a tendency to unwind sometimes (possibly temperature changes (?)) or to break and slip so perhaps using locktite would be a good idea?

Waxed string and a reef knot should do it

FYI.

The AF1 Tuono site is currently littered with reports of coolant & oil leaks from the 06-08 Tuono's due to the poor sealing of the "click" clamps Aprilia are currently using.

To be fair I never had a problem with any of the clips on the Falco (replaced the lower clip when I did the oil strainer filter) and none have leaked so far on the T

But a number of the Americans are now using these clips (below) and a lot of Tuono owners are relacing the click clamps with good old Jubilee's just to be on the safe side.

What ever you decide, get stainless ones so it doesn't look like someones smeared your bike in orange shit in a couple of years.

my local car shop sells those norma clamps (or at least look similar) I'll probably use those when i finally get round to changing the oil, sadly i've got myself lumbered with a load of diy at the mo, bathroom, cloak room and a nursery. No rest for the wicked
