... was the battery after all. I bought a cheap Juasa battery from trade direct in Sheffield. Note the spelling 
cos I didnt. Yuasa is correct, just paid £15 more for the real thing, it holds 2.5 volts more and started the thing immediately. Mug. I havent ridden since December and still have spent £90 on batteries. Must learn from mistakes
