Hi guys,
I have a strange noise under the seat, rear of fuel tank area. its sounds like a ball bearing rolling around when i move the bike upright from the sidestand and then again when i put the bike back on the side stand. Any ideas?

Probably a bolt come loose and has dropped into one of the trays, happened to me a little while ago, IIRC found it in front of the battery compartment. Never did find where the bolt came from
That being said, get the seat off and have a proper good look - anything falling off a bike may lead to something nasty, and of course I could be wrong and it's not a bolt!

Yeah, what he said. There is a tray right below the point where the tank pivots which is very difficult to see into. It is where that silly flap that sits between the shock and the back wheel bolts on amongst other things. Would be very easy for something small and hard to be stuck rolling around in there.
Racing is life - anything before or after is just waiting.

Take the seat off and lift the tank. There's a flat tray under the back of the tank might be something rolling around there.

That must be it. Turn the bike upside down and shake it.

found it, a nut is indeed in that tray under the nose of the tank, i can just see it but cant get at it. How the hell do you get access to the tray? I thought the tank lirts from the front, so that wont work, i think the rear needs to be lifted.

If you can see it then one of those telescopic magnet doohickies might help, kind of like a small magnet stuck on the end of a car aerial...real handy if you have more thumbs than fingers

Got one of those magnet on a sticks, and retrieved one item, a kind of flat top hat with a hole in it, unfortunately there is another bit, the screw that goes through the hole, prolly made from Stainless steel, therefore not magnetic, so 50% fixed.

If you find where it's come from, let me know - it's probably fell out of the same hole as mine did, and I've not found where that is yet

I lifted the tank, and could just get my hand in to the tray to remove the stainless steel cap head screw, identical to that which holds the front part of the tray, the little top hat thing acts as the spacer. I guess they drop one in at the factory on purpose to confuse the enemy
so problem solved, buy an Aprilia and get free spares
