Standard exhaust coring

Long story short - I broke my left can on someones brake lever while cornering, mallory in under 2 weeks and replacement carbon tubes havent appeared. Couldnt bring myself to put standard cans on cos they weigh almost a stone each. Thought 'I know, I'll core them out like i've seen others do' cos it looked easy and a good way to save weight
Unfortunately I decided i liked the look of the cans on the wrong way round
hacksaw-and-clubHammer time !
Cut the end off (notice the 1" diameter outlet of standard pipe, strangled or what >
Delicately removed the catalytic converter (i think thats what it is) >
And cut the end off the bit that links down to join to leave a cone shape end >>
Now just have to put some baffle tube in, weld the end back on and get it to mate with the wolf link pipes and bobs your auntie. Holes a bit big at the end
Stupid hanging bracket wont come off no matter how hard i hit it so i've come up with a cunning plan.

Sorry for topping old thread but I'm nearly done
(and ooops sorry, didnt see the question Alladin but i wasnt bidding on those remus)
Cost more than I thought, but I now have a nice set of heavy-duty cans to use as crashbungs instead of my exploding carbon ones. Sorry for the crap photos but I cant get it outside for other peoples crap in me garage
I think they look decent, better than standard cans anyway and the cone end gets me style points

May be painting the main tube black to hide scratches and the old hanger mounting points

So Aprilia gave us the ultimate cans as standard ....just we didn't realise it because they filled them with scrap metal and put them on back to front!
Well done Pierre for sorting this out!
(excellent job - they really look the biz)

Blimey, noones said they look shit or told me off for messing with genuine cant-be-improved aprilia parts
They sound very similar to the wolf carbons i took off, but weigh twice as much. The reasoning is I'm off to cartagena in november*brag* for 4 days ontrack and my wolf cans ground themself into oblivion after 1 meeting with the tarmac so I needed something more like a giant crashbung
I did the hacksaw work and my mate who does exhausts welded some stainless baffle in, flared the end out to match the cone bit, wadded them and welded the end back on for £100 which i think is reasonable (wadding costs
him £20 a can)
Then you tell me Fuel cans are £200 new

Thanks for the complements though
edit:i'd post them on the af1 site just for the abuse but can i bollocks ever remember my login stuff so sod it.

HaHa
There was a thread on AF1 this week about plugging the headlight hole for trackday use - and I took the liberty of posting up a pic of your bike with the 2 tiny headlights as an example of how this had been done.
SoulDaddy thought it was my bike (although I'm pretty sure I'd said it was yours) and had spotted the underslung can. He PM'd me for more info so I sent back links to the thread on the old forum where you posted up about the under seat and underslung exhausts.
I also linked him to this thread and he was very complimentary about these new cans.
Paddy also good good comments for his cored out cans ... so I reckon these would get a good reception over there .... if you can work out how to log in!

Where Pierre goes, Aprilia follows.
Pictures of the latest RSVR and Tuono .... with new style cans .... hope you've got the design copyrighted Pierre!
