C-plus's site up for sale

From af1 :
Personally thanks for your site. I used it many times and it is a great resource for Aprilia owners.
Thanks!!! You want it??? I've done some work on freshening it up this year, and I think I've made some big strides in the right direction, but there's work still to be done by an eager enthusiast. Seriously, the site (sans the ExpressionEngine CMS license) can be yours for the low, LOW, price of... $0.00. Nothing. Nada. Zip. Zilch. Yes, it's free. Interested parties can apply in the usual place (PM or email).
I thought maybe the forum could be re-pointed to here to save buying a licence

and maybe have a front page that you could post news to, eg, recent mods, trackday reports, touring reports to keep the front page changing.
Only thing is , I dont even know how the interweb works. Kinda like I can see and use porn but i'll never be able to star in it
Would be a shame to lose it, as it was one of the first places to look when I bought my falco and had loads of easy to read info

Yeah I saw this too and was wondering about the best way to grab all the info before it was lost (I've quite a bit of it copied in any case).
It would be a tragedy to loose it.
Like your idea Pierre but no idea about the practicalities.
Kwackerz - Could this be done?
(it would be a major coup over AF1 !)
Just as concerning is the mystery of C-plus selling his Falco, no plan to replace it and giving up his excellent website.

Yup could be done.
Im sure you could do something with it.
http://expressionengine.com/overview/pricing/ a guide to the pricing although havent looked in depth at it to see how it all works, etc Havent really checked the Site as it's late and Im at work early. I do agree it needs recovering rather than being lost! maybe point the URL '
www.falcoridersite.co.uk ' to it too...
You could have a forum link to the falco bit here, that's a simple beast to achieve at the top of the front page. I think you'd lose the 'recent posts' bit though.
I take it the rest of that site is simply 'there' and just needs payment for hosting. The only real dynamic at the moment being the forum?
Have a word with him, see what he says. He's obviously worked with it and knows it inside out n back to front (although some of the text needs resizing by the looks of it in my browser?)
Time is short for me as Im away soon up to Scotland on exercise for a Month. Isle of Islay or somesuch weird place.

Be good if we could do something with it, was on the site before coming here, still great for info, and also occasionally use the forums.

I've e-mailed c-plus to begin to explore the possibilities and costs etc.
I'll keep you posted.

Cos there obviously is !!
Then again this could be a very good idea.
As we have all said before, now that the Falco is no longer being sold, we cannot continue to grow and some Falco sites will fall by the wayside.
The CPLUS site has been an excellent site for a long time and, if we could incorporate it in someway, it would be a great idea.
Everybody with a Falco must have used it at some time and we cannot afford to lose all that information.
Go for it Andy.

Not much of a plan yet chaps - all the ARS discussion about it is in this thread and I've sent one email to c-plus to ask about feasibility, costs of running the thing, practicalities of linking with here etc. There have been no "behind the scenes" communications.
For all I know, he could have a load of others talking to him and there may be 101 reasons why this doesn't work out.
I'll keep everybody in the picture (as far as possible while respecting any confidentiality with c-plus) and if decisions are needed we'll do what's appropriate - just like we did when we moved the forum.
So - don't get your hopes up too high yet but be assured I'm not going to let c-plus' hard work for the Falco community disappear without exploring the possibilities.

Sounds like a possible defection - I say burn him!
Good luck Andy, hope you can find a way to keep the info available

Nah - no defection - This is the base ..... be nice to add an extension to our home though ..... one with a great library of information about our "hobby".

That was all I was hinting at Andy, sorry didn't mean anything else!
Just think it's a great idea to make this sort of approach and see if there is anything we can do.

am just thinking - why not use a web bot to copy all the info on the sight on to our hard drives for the moment?
just in case you understand

I think the first move is to talk to c-plus rather than go for an all-out smash and grab. I know you don't mean it like that but I'm also sure that c-plus won't want his hard-collected info to be lost forever.
I'm confident that a solution will be found.
I expect that many of us have a number of the key articles copied already for handy reference when we do the mods - I've certainly got copies of swinger swaps and exhaust swaps - but the priority has to be to keep the information together for everyone.

CPlus has just registered.
I suspect that a few answers may be forthcoming, or at least I hope so.
be nice to add an extension to our home though
I secured the
www.falcoridersite.co.uk domain name the other day, so that is there and available for redirecting if you wish to use it. It points to the falco part of ARS at the moment.
