Dunno if any of you guys remeber me (used to be zhaith on the old ARS boards), well after a 3 year break due to a mixture of work, the wife wanting me to sell it and the fact that it was in bits due to a Fiesta wanting the bit of road i was on , i'm happy to say that the ole girl is back on the road , i'm rusty as hell and it's been that long i'd almost forgotton how good the falco is.

Anyway, i've just re-fitted the rene's and airbox after it's MOT and now started to spend some money much to the wifes disgust . Which leads me on the a couple of questions,

I've just brought an RSV swingarm off a 1998-2001 model and 2002 Sachs mille shock, now as far as I understand the shock should work fine with the standard falco linkage, as looking at some photo's the pre 2003 rsv and falco linkages appear to be the same, can anyone confirm this?

Also i'm planning on getting both the swingarm and my wheels powdercoated, any ideas if there's some where that does it in the midlands, I ilike the look of http://www.aerocoat.net/home.htm but norfolk aint exactly close and also somewhere local ish i can take/send the shock for a service/flush schrader valve to be fitted :)

Welcome back Hishy your bike looks great to me as it is but I think the s/ arm will fit fine unless the shock is a later model which is softer and will probably need a later link set to match and get ride hight correct, opinions differ have fun.

Aerocoat used to do a fairly cheap mailing service, have a look at their site and see if they still do it.

iirc you can run the shock with falco linkages, but you do need the mille ones for the swing arm

not 100% certain but that is what I did

and norfolk is not that bad... just when you talk to the swampies, don't forget to count their fingers, if you can see them through the webbing that is

Hi Hishy - welcome back - although I wasn't here when you were before (only had my Falco a little over 2 years).

As for your shock and linkages:

The 2002 Mille Sachs shock will be the one with the yellow spring. That one needs the Mille linkages designed for that shock.

The earlier white spring Mille Sachs does use the same linkages as the Falco.

Falco and White spring Mille Sachs linkages have a shorter "dogbone" and the triangles are more equilateral in shape.
Yellow spring Mille Sachs linkages have a longer "dogbone" and the triangles are more isosceles in shape.

Ahh time to track down the dogbone then, there's one on ebay atm but alas it's the early one :(

Others have used the yellow sprung shock with the falco linkage and think it's ok, might be worth a punt before buying new ones.

I tried the Falco links/Yellow spring Sachs combination and it was ok. Then I got a set o RSV links offa Ebay dirt cheap and things are mucho better!
It feels firmer now at the back and not so 'wallowy', a lot more feedback as well.
IMO, the Falco links do the job, (though only just as the bike sits lower at the back end even with the shock fully extended); Try n get the 99/03 Mille links if I were you.
