New Chip Maybe???

#1 Post by Anthrax 336 » Fri Aug 10, 2007 7:36 pm

Some advice please.

Got some Scorpion cans fitted, road leagal ones with, yes you guessed it, removable baffles which have never been put back in after hearing the sound of the Falco come to life.

Will I need to change the chip or is it ok to run the engine as it is? Power commander is just a bit too expensive.

or possibly some one who still rides a bike :)

(cheap crack but i felt i had too!)

I ran my fuel exhausts fine with the standard chip - tbh - if you are going to play with chips, imho, just get a power commander :)

I think if you run with the baffles in, you're OK, but removing the baffles may make the bike run lean which causes the engine to overheat (IIRC) - best bet would be to contact Scorpion and ask them

That's what I heard. If there is no dedicated chip for them, ask which one they recommend. Just spare yourself money and time and go for PCIII in case you wanted to play with chips yourself in search for Holy Grail. PCIII is The Sh1t. :smt004 :smt003

Hehehe

I picked up a PCIII today - chap from the AF1 forum is selling his Falco and had a few goodies to get rid of - lives fairly local to me so the deal was done and I collected it today.
He's never found this forum - and as selling his Falco I didn't push it ..... but I did suggest he gets on the Ridersite ..... :smt001

Apparently he'd bumped into Keith the other day .... who'd reprimanded him for pulling wheelies in town. :smt018 :smt002

Anyway PCIII ready to go in and ready to make any adjustments I may need once I get that Mille exhaust fitted.

So how much were you ripped off for it?

..... and what makes you think I was ripped off ??

He'd only had it for about 3 weeks (I know this to be the case), it's complete in its box with all stickers, manual, leads, CD ROM, and the 9v battery adapter to let you power and program it when it's not on the bike.
I was able to pay cash (no Paypal trail for the Mrs to notice). I can probably sell it for what I paid for it (if I ever want to) ...... I've seen them go for more than I paid but don't tell the chap I bought it from.

Ticked all the right boxes for me.

Hi Andy,

So you bought the power commander from Paul who parks next to me in Leicester.

I spoke with him just over a week ago and he didn't mention he was thinking of selling. I thought he was into the bike and going to be doing it up over time.

I'll have to e-mail or ask next time I see him and see what it's about.

I'm not sure I repremanded him. I just suggested he might keep his licence or live longer, if he curtailed his youthfull exuberance a little, at least through the centre of town, in the rush hour on a cold engine......... maybe I'm an just an old fart who's jealouse.
Don't put off 'till tomorrow what you can enjoy today

Yeah - I've had a few discussions with Paul over on AF1 and I know he had a lot of plans for mods to his bike - including the Mille pipe conversion I'm slowly preparing for.

The sale of the Falco came a bit out of the blue - he'd posted up about his seat-hump coming off on the M1 and by halfway through the thread was selling the Falco ... money for a bigger house was mentioned and a choice between his ZX9R and the Falco .... and he opted to keep the ZX9R.
The Falco is now up on ebay.
Here's the thread on AF1 (His username is Vil_guy): THREAD

As for the 'reprimand' - he was cool about it - he was pleased to have talked with you.
Small world isn't it? I go to buy a PCIII, he mentions parking up next to a Falco rider in Leicester, I ask whether it was you and it was!

Hmmmmm, remind me who took of like a scalded cat down some back roads near your house on a cold engine cold tyres and then proceded to get air under both wheels over a yump.

Old fart I think not! :smt002
