Pillion seat

I was following an ebay auction for a pillion seat. My seat got a bit scuffed up when it became unattached as I rounded Creg ny Baa on the way to work a month or so ago. When I checked on it last night it had reached £132! WTF? Are these as rare as rocking horse excrement or do they cost a fortune as a new spare part (if you can get them)?
I will be keeping my scuffed seat and getting it recovered. Seems like a lot cheaper option.

That is an insane price! I can only imagine that the person bidding has no idea of the real value of a seat. IIRC they are about 130 or 140 direct from Aprilia - I got one about a month ago for about 40 quid on Ebay... just be patient, one will come up

Yes the seat was mine!!.....I was gobsmacked as well

.....
But as yet no payment or contact has arrived from the winning bidder.....so it looks like some plonker was bidding just for the hell of it
Also a genuine buyer had emailed me and was bidding... but then got outbid, the end price was £160 !! ....I should have realised and cancelled their bid but I was not at home .....Imagine my shock when I arrived home when the auction had ended.

Indeed I can, had the same 2 years ago, its why now I'm highly critical of fleabay, they only see the £ signs popping up

Can't you retrospectively cancel the erroneous bids and offer the item as a "second chance offer" to the genuine bidder?
Or.... you have a sale outside of ebay right here!

Damn!
Bought one on ebay a while back for less than a tenner - been canabalising it for a little project that's "ongoing".
Wish I'd known they go for this sort of money - it'd have been back on ebay and I'd have used the proceeds to have found a different solution for my 'project'.

Actually, that's what I call the underseat storage area on my son's scooter .... any more capacious and you could install a jacuzzi in there!
EDIT .... obviously not at the same time as using it as a portaloo .....

I was tracking the auction and was going to come in at the last minute. But when I saw that price I just switched off. My seat has the scuffs you would expect after falling off at about 40 mph onto shellgrip. I think P&P will recover it for less than a replacement would cost and I might go this route, whilst taking the opportunity to add some bling to the rider seat at the same time. Its a winter project and it can wait.

Looking at the price of some bits for a Falco I'm sorely tempted to break the bike up, it'd save a lot of hassle.

Regretably the perceived wisdom is that you can often get more for a broken bike than the bike itself. Certainly it's almost always better to return it to "standard" (assuming you've got the bits) and sell all the bling and upgrades separately from the "standard" bike.
....... just seems a shame for that particular bike .....

I sold my last Fazer off as parts, and got the same price as I'd have got as a trade-in. If you have the space and the time (took almost a year to get rid of all the bits) it's a great way to learn how bikes are put together and how to deal with useless twats on e-bay.
