HID - Where did you put your ballast?

Been a busy day but decided before going to bed I'd fit my new HID kit.
..... why do I always start these things late at night?!

Anyway, bulb's in and it's brighter than the sun - lighting the road several yards in front of me (been meaning to adjust the beam since I raised the rear suspension).

Did a quick lash-up with the ballast as I was struggling to find a good place to fit it. Trouble is, it's hiding my speedo and half of the rest of my dash. Need to find a better place for it ASAP.

Tweaker, Dale, anyone else who's done the HID conversion: Where did you put the ballast?(finding places for things like this on a Falco are a right pain!)
Info much appreciated ... Info + pictures even more appreciated.

Once I've got that sorted I can then do the headlight mod that keeps the dip beam on with the main beam.

Cheers!

Hi Andy,
I've got mine mounted on the bar that runs across the sub-frame, just below the instruments. I used zip ties through the mounting holes on the ballast to keep it in place and it's been fine. However, if you remove the fairing, a better place to mount it is above the intake duct on the LH side - it's where I intended to put mine 'next time the fairing is off' - it's still waiting!!

Cheers
Dave

How long are the wires? There's a nice space on top of the ECU box.

Cheers Dave - I've now got mine installed - similar place to yours but I made up a bracket to hold it - I'll post up some pics soon in case others want to see how it can be done.

Nooj - the wires are quite short - you're restricted to within about a foot of the bulb, so the top fairing is about the only place .... and there's no a lot of unused space in there.

I lashed mine up like tweaker, but I suspect a bit more on the lash side.

Interesting comment about the area above the air duct, how would you fix it there?

This evening I was hoping to complete the job by doing the mod to keep the dip beam on when the main beam is on.

..... would have got it done too ..... had my soldering iron not packed up half-way through!

A point of interest (possibly) is that I found my switchgear is quite different to the pictures I've seen posted up that show how to do the dip beam mod.
Anyway, I've figured out what has to be done with the new switchgear and I'll post that up .... once I've got a working soldering iron and actually done the mod.

Mind you, that won't be until I return from Japan.
