Help!!!
HAd a fault of diag code 33, 34 indicating both front coils malfunctioning. Replaced coils but still showing codes 33, 34. WTF?

Not my area, but if both have "failed" at the same time, do they run from a common fuse?

Thanks Firestarter, unfortunately there is no direct fuse between the primary winding circuit and the ECU. I'm about to do a continuity check from ECU right through to the fuel pump relay, although the pump spins up when ignition switched on and the engine stop relay. Hoping it's no the ECU that is playing up.

Hi folks, Update on the ongoing problem

so I know this is an ongoing problem but I've run out of ideas.

Changed plugs, HT leads and did a continuity check from primary winding terminals to junction plug then from plug to ECU No problem there.

Noticed 1 wire had been cut to the ECU from where I think an alarm had been fitted going into the No.16 pin on the 16 pin connector. I rejoined this wire and the diag codes dissapeared. Result? Not really the flaming bike still won't start, but now with no fault codes.

OK, sorry to hear about your woes, but I think we need to step back a bit. Here come the questions...

1) Where are you based?
2) How long have you had the bike?
3) When was the last time it ran 'normally' (i.e. no fault codes)?
4) What was the last thing you changed prior to the fault codes appearing?
5) You mention an alarm - when was this removed and by whom?
6) How old is the bike and how many miles has it covered?

I think that will do for now...

How are you getting on with this issue? I see you haven't replied to the questions. Could possibly be your tip over switch upside down or faulty. Have you checked that. The alarm having been removed sounds a bit sus also.

Hi Gents, thanks for the responces. For info it's a 2005 registered Falco with 6800 gen miles on the clock. (checked by MoT history) the codition of the bike seems to support this as well is it is a minter. Unfortunately it also appears to have long periods of storage and inactivity.

Mango, 1. I'm based in Dunoon..........2. Bought it on 22nd May this year..........3. First time I rode it it ran well for 30 odd miles then EFI came up...........4. Nothing before the fault codes..........5. The dealer I bought it from said he had had the alarm taken out, presumably by his mechanic, because it was running the battery down..........6. See first paragraph.

Apologies but I've not had a lot of time on my hands to work on the bike as I've just bought a house, moved house, got married and had a honeymoon, all in the space of 8 weeks.

Well update so far is that when the fault codes no longer showed and It still wouldn't fire up I checked the fuelling and found the pressureised fuel line had a kink in it where it had been crushed by someone before me routing it the wrong way. Replaced it and also put a carb and injector cleaner additive in the tank. Bingo fired up no problem and was running sweet as a nut.

Went for a hurrel tonight and it was behaving impeccably until I had gone about another 30 miles then the dreaded EFI warning came up again and limped home with one cyclinder intermittantly misfiring and the subsequent loss of power. Got home and Diag codes 33, 34 came up again. Coil and or wiring. See previous. It seems strange the very same fault codes come up even though the items were replaced. I am beginning to wonder if there is a faul with the ECU?

You thoughts would be most welcome. TIA

Sorry if this is stating the bl**din obvious, but if you only bought it in May from a dealer, does it not make sense for them to sort it out? If they argue the toss - point them at 2015 Consumer Rights Act - which says if a product (second hand vehicle included) develops a fault within 6 momnths of purchase, it's assumed it's neen there since purchase. Worth registering fault with them in writing in any event......I may be missing something of course!
