Pulsing brakes

Have recently bought my newest (2 previous ones!) Falco which comes with EBC discs (marked 61230 SD system). Have strtaed to encounter the pulsing feel through levers when braking. Have chceked through this site and obvious first check/ thing to do is cleaning rotor buttons. My question is whether I can do this/ use same approach as for other rotors, given the EBC 'square drive system'? Should the (all metal) 'buttons be able to turn freely as on other semi floater rotors? Not sure what the 'SD' system is and don't want to mess it up! Thanks for your help

Just had a look at a video about the EBC SD system, and I reckon that bobbin rotation on those discs is impossible.
Here's the video:

Thanks Mango - that's what I thought - bobbin rotation was going to be my first approach so will investigate other possible causes......

So - bear in mind that "bobbin rotation" is an indication that the bobbins can move freely and allow the disc to float - but rotation isn't the feature you're looking for, it's the lateral movement. So it may still be that the bobbins are the cause of the pulsing and need freeing off, but can't be done in the same way by spraying them with cleaner and rotating them, they may still need spraying and trying to move them laterally to free them off?
FWIW, I put some wavy brake discs on at the same time as putting braided lines on, and I can feel pulsing which was reduced by cleaning the bobbins, but there is still something there. I think the braided lines just gave a lot more feel than previous.

Again, thanks for this - have the bike booked in for a couple of other issues so will get them to look at the brake issue too

Update - as Mango says, cannot rotate bobbins on these EBC's, but thought I'd try some cleaner and genttle taps with rubber mallet on them to loosen crud before anything expensive, and it seems to have worked. There's still a little puilsing under heavy braking, but probably 75% better and now fine to use.

Sounds positive - don't let perfection be the enemy of good enough
